Role Type: Full-Time
Schedule: EST
Salary Range: $1,300 - $1,700 per month
We are hiring a Senior Accountant to execute month-end close, reconciliations, and accounting cleanup work across one or more operating entities in a project-based environment (construction/manufacturing blend). This role is hands-on and delivery-focused. You will be responsible for producing accurate financials supported by clear workpapers and timely communication.
This is not a people-management role at the start; however, the position has clear growth potential into expanded ownership and leadership as processes stabilize and the accounting function scales.
Key Responsibilities:
Month-End Close Execution
- Own assigned month-end close activities and checklist(s)
- Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting schedules
- Maintain consistent monthly close deliverables and documentation standards
- Ensure financial statements are complete, accurate, and review-ready by deadline
Reconciliations & Balance Sheet Integrity
- Perform monthly reconciliations for bank accounts, credit cards, loans, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts
- Investigate reconciling items and resolve discrepancies with documented support
- Maintain and update reconciliation templates and schedules in Excel
- Ensure reconciliations are timely, accurate, and easy to review
General Ledger & Data Hygiene
- Maintain chart of accounts consistency and correct miscoding as needed
- Identify historical issues and execute cleanup plans with clear documentation
- Improve bookkeeping accuracy through repeatable processes and controls
Operational Accounting Support (as assigned)
- Support expense management and coding workflows (including Ramp, where applicable)
- Assist with AR/AP tie-outs, aging reviews, and routine accounting tasks tied to close
- Coordinate with payroll/HR administration resources as needed to ensure accurate postings and liability balances
Communication & Reporting
- Provide weekly status updates: completed items, open items, risks, and next steps
- Escalate issues early with clear context and proposed resolutions
- Maintain organized close binders/workpapers in the designated file repository
Growth Potential
As the environment becomes more standardized, this role can expand into broader ownership and leadership responsibilities, including:
- Managing portions of the close process end-to-end across additional entities
- Owning process improvements (close calendars, controls, documentation standards)
- Reviewing work produced by junior/offshore accounting staff
- Supporting hiring, onboarding, and day-to-day task delegation
- Progressing into a lead accountant or accounting manager role based on performance and business needs
