About the team and position

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a talented and high-performing Accounting team. Under the direction of the Accounting Manager, the Senior Accountant is responsible for understanding related accounting concepts, ensuring compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and working with other accountants in a team-based environment. This position will support the general ledger, ensuring it is accurate across multiple dimensions, and related internal reporting.  This position will have a high level of visibility into the business model and interaction/collaboration with other business units in the company.  The Senior Accountant should be detail-oriented as well as have a passion for efficiency and process improvement.  Most importantly, you will see your insights have an immediate, tangible impact every day.

What you’ll be doing

  • Reviewing and preparing journal entries for various general ledger accounts.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly financial results based on operational information derived from multiple data sources.
  • Analyzing trends and variances to forecast and prior periods.
  • Reconciling and reviewing Balance Sheet and Income Statement  Accounts, including researching variances, and maintaining supporting schedules and sub-ledgers​.
  • Assist with researching complex accounting transactions.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly reporting for Management and other business units.
  • Coaching and mentoring junior team members by providing ongoing feedback and guidance. 
  • Preparing Ad-hoc Reporting for Management and leading or assisting with Special Projects as needed.
  • Working directly/indirectly with external and internal auditors to ensure a smooth and timely audit process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you should know/have

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field from an accredited institution.
  • 3+ years of accounting experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Ability to collaborate among multiple business units.
  • Organized and able to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines. 
  • Demonstrated process improvement skills and/or mindset.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including advanced Excel skills.
  • Analytical and detail oriented.
  • A sense of urgency and professionalism, with impeccable communication skills.

It would be great if you also had

  • Master’s of Accounting.
  • CPA license.
  • SQL experience.
  • Oracle Fusion, or other major ERP system, experience.
