The role

We are looking to recruit a fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) Senior Accountant to manage the day-to-day financial management of the Raspberry Pi Foundation and its charitable subsidiaries in Ireland, India, the USA and Kenya. The Raspberry Pi Foundation has an annual expenditure of £26m and currently employs 240 people across the 5 entities. We are anticipating further growth in the coming years. 

Reporting to the Financial Controller and working closely with the Foundation’s Operations team, you will help to deliver all aspects of the finances of the charity and its subsidiaries. The role will include management accounting, statutory accounting (including the annual audit), tax compliance and payroll. You will join a highly-skilled team of finance professionals, including two Senior Accounts Assistants, and an Accounts Assistant.

The ideal candidate will have experience of working in a Not-for-Profit finance function. You will have strong analytical ability and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the Financial Controller by taking ownership of day to day finance operations, ensuring policies and processes are followed and transactions are processed accurately and in a timely fashion  
• Liaise with the FP&A manager to ensure timely financial reporting
• Support month-end accounts preparation and management accounts reporting 
• Support the Financial Controller with annual statutory audits of all our entities
• Review VAT returns prepared by the senior accounts assistant for our VAT-registered entities
• Support the Financial Controller in the preparation of regular cash flow forecasts and manage cash flow between the group’s entities
• Maintain excellent communication links with external accounting providers outside the UK, to ensure they provide accurate and timely information and advice
• Carry out due diligence reviews on the financial data of our new and existing global partners 
• Manage the insurance needs of the Group, including renewals and additional insurances required for specific events
• Provide training, guidance and support to more junior members of the team as required
• Develop cross-competencies to provide cover for other team roles as required
• Prepare and update internal financial policies and processes as required
• Help to identify process improvements and drive efficiency

Experience and personal attributes

• A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) 
• Experienced with producing management accounts, variance analysis reports, and other financial reports for non-financial stakeholders
• Experience in producing statutory accounts and providing reconciliations and backing to auditors.
• Able to work with precision and excellent attention to detail
• Excellent at verbal and written communication, and able to communicate to both financial and non-financial stakeholders
• A good team player
• Experience working with accounting software, ideally Xero
• Confident in spreadsheet management and use of Google Workspace
• Experience of working in a multi-currency environment with international subsidiaries
• Knowledge of VAT rules, including partial exemption and reverse charging rules.
