Senior Accountant (f/m/d) - Austria-based

TLDR

Lead global accounting operations for Austrian and US entities while driving automation and efficiency across our finance function with a focus on high-quality financial reporting.

About the role

We’re looking for a seasoned Accountant to take ownership of our global accounting operations and play a key role in building a modern, scalable finance function. Reporting directly to the CFO, you’ll lead our accounting processes across Austrian and US entities, ensure high-quality financial reporting, and drive automation and efficiency across systems and workflows. The role is preferably based in Vienna or Innsbruck, with a hybrid working model, and will collaborate closely with both local and international teams across the organization.

What you'll do

Core Accounting & Reporting

  • Own the full accounting cycle (AP/AR, GL, assets, accruals, deferrals) and ensure fast, accurate monthly closes.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management reports for Austrian and US entities in line with UGB, US GAAP, and internal accounting policies.

  • Produce annual statutory accounts and oversee accurate tax filings, including VAT, corporate income tax, and withholding taxes.

  • Maintain a strong control environment with clean balance sheets, effective controls, and timely compliance.

Group Accounting & International Operations

  • Support group consolidation and reporting with consistent accounting treatment across international entities.

  • Develop and document intercompany processes, including cross-charges and transfer-pricing workflows.

  • Manage multi-currency accounting, ensuring accurate FX treatment and reporting.

Finance Projects & Automation

  • Evaluate, implement, and optimize modern accounting tools to build a highly automated finance tech stack.

  • Identify and execute automation opportunities to streamline workflows and enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Maintain clear finance documentation to support onboarding, scalability, and continuous improvement.

Stakeholder Collaboration & Leadership

  • Partner with FP&A on budgeting and forecasting for local entities and the wider group.

  • Serve as the primary contact for auditors, external partners, and regulatory authorities.

  • Motivate and develop a high-performing Accounting team while fostering alignment with the US team.

  • Champion continuous improvement by designing efficient, standardized processes that enhance quality and effectiveness.

We are looking for someone with

  • Extensive Accounting Background gained in fast-paced, high-growth tech or SaaS environments, including strong exposure to recurring revenue models and revenue recognition.

  • UGB Expertise, with hands-on experience preparing financial statements.

  • International Accounting Experience, including multi-entity structures, intercompany processes, and consolidated reporting.

  • Tooling & Compliance Know-How, from working with systems like BMD and AP/AR automation tools to understanding VAT/GST, transfer pricing, and statutory reporting.

  • Analytical Precision & Clear Communication, collaborating effectively across finance and non-finance stakeholders while producing reliable outputs.

  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.

That said, we’d be particularly delighted to hire someone with

  • Relevant finance/accounting education or commercial training (e.g., Bilanzbuchhalter/Tax Clerk) and possibly foundational experience in an audit or tax firm.

  • Familiarity with international standards (e.g., UGB/IFRS/US GAAP) and the ability to work with German documentation or advisors.

  • Experience in startup finance or scaling an early-stage accounting function.

  • An automation mindset, experimenting with modern tools and AI, and the ability to work autonomously in distributed/async environments.
