Our client is looking for a Senior Accountant to lead A/R, invoicing, and month-end close, review junior staff output, and elevate reporting quality. This role will also be responsible for tightening job-cost hygiene, speeding the close, and producing analysis that improves cash flow and profitability.
Accounts Receivable & Billing
- Own progress/milestone billing; prepare invoices with backup; coordinate approvals and submission.
- Maintain AR aging; drive collections cadence/dispute resolution; cash application and lockbox posting.
- Track retainage, lien waivers, and sales tax (where applicable).
Month-End Close & Reporting
- Prepare/review bank/credit card and balance-sheet reconciliations (prepaids, accruals, payroll liabilities).
- Maintain fixed assets and depreciation; assist with WIP/percent-complete metrics.
- Post closing entries; deliver draft financials, BvA, and variance commentary within 7 business days.
Controls, Review & Process
- Review QBD Payroll runs and mappings (items, job/class codes, fringes) and the payroll liability roll-forward.
- Review certified payroll/union packages; enforce documentation standards and cut-off controls.
- Strengthen job-cost coding and COA consistency; improve accrual practices.
- Build repeatable templates and simple automations to reduce manual effort.
Analysis & Automation (Plus)
- Use advanced Excel (INDEX/XMATCH, SUMIFS, Pivots, Power Query) for data shaping and reconciliation.
- (Preferred) Light Python for recurring data cleanup/validation, CSV merges, or report generation.
Systems: QuickBooks Desktop (with Payroll), Ramp, Microsoft Excel (advanced) / Power Query, Google Sheets, (Python nice-to-have)
Success in 30/60/90 Days
- 30: Controls AR aging; standardizes billing packs; completes first close with reviewed reconciliations.
- 60: Close delivered in ≤7 business days; recon/roll-forward schedules in place; collections velocity improves.
- 90: Monthly variance analysis and cash-forecast inputs delivered; junior output timely with fewer review notes.
Requirements
Must-Have Qualifications
- 4–6+ years of progressive accounting experience, with construction or manufacturing industry experience strongly preferred.
- Senior-level accounting capability, including strong accrual accounting, advanced revenue recognition, and working knowledge of ASC 606.
- Demonstrated ability to own the entire month-end close, including creating adjusting journal entries, handling complex reconciliations, conducting analytical financial reviews, identifying red flags, ensuring compliance, and preparing reports suitable for CPA-level review.
- Strong QuickBooks Desktop mastery, including jobs/classes, items, subledgers, closing workflows, and an understanding of QBD Payroll impacts on the GL and liability accounts.
- Proven experience with A/R ownership, job costing, WIP considerations, and cleanup of high-complexity financials.
- Advanced Excel proficiency (complex formulas, pivot tables, data analysis); Power Query preferred.
- Ability to operate in a CPA-led environment with high accuracy, fast pace, and elevated expectations for documentation and precision.
- Leadership or team management experience and the ability to support or oversee junior staff when needed.
- Excellent English communication skills and strong documentation habits.
Nice-to-Haves
- AIA billing (G702/G703), WIP/POC familiarity, union/prevailing wage exposure.
- QuickBooks Time (TSheets) experience.
- Basic scripting (Python) for ETL/reporting; BI handoff experience.

- Client Relationship : You will be directly working with the client. This means that you will communicate with the client, provide services, and address any client-related matters independently.
- Payments : All payments for your services will be handled by the client. Elevate and Delegate is not involved in processing your payroll. Your salary will directly go to you.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Schedule: Minimum 4-hour overlap with 9:00–5:00 ET
Salary Range: $1,300 - $1,600 per month
