About the Role:
Billtrust is seeking a Senior Accountant, AI & Automation to support and enhance global cash operations, forecasting, and working capital management through data-driven insights and intelligent automation.
This role blends treasury expertise with modern automation and AI capabilities, operating in a fast-paced, high-volume SaaS environment with a growing international footprint. The ideal candidate will not only execute core treasury and accounting responsibilities, but also design and implement scalable, automated solutions that improve cash visibility, forecasting accuracy, and close efficiency.
This position partners closely with Accounting, FP&A, Tax, Payroll, IT, and international stakeholders to modernize financial processes, reduce manual work, and deliver actionable insights across the cash conversion cycle.
What You'll Do:
Treasury Operations & Cash Management
- Record, review, and analyze daily cash activity across global bank accounts
- Prepare and review bank reconciliations and ensure alignment with the general ledger
- Maintain strong internal controls and segregation of duties across cash processes
- Support global cash positioning and liquidity management
Cash Flow Forecasting & Analytics
- Own and enhance direct and indirect cash flow forecasts (daily, 13-week, 13-month)
- Analyze variances between forecasted and actual cash flows; identify key drivers and trends
- Deliver insights to improve working capital performance (DSO, DPO, deferred revenue, etc.)
- Support preparation of the U.S. GAAP Statement of Cash Flows
AI, Automation & Process Improvement
- Design and implement automated workflows and models across treasury and accounting processes
- Leverage tools (e.g., Excel automation, Power Query, AI tools, scripting, dashboards) to:
-Streamline reconciliations
-Improve forecast accuracy and speed
-Reduce manual data aggregation
- Identify opportunities to apply AI and data-driven techniques for:
-Cash flow prediction
-Anomaly detection
-Variance analysis
- Partner with Finance Systems / IT to improve integrations across ERP, banking platforms, and reporting tools
Cash Governance & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Lead the cash governance process by aggregating inputs from AR, AP, FP&A, Payroll, and Tax
- Improve data consistency and reliability across upstream cash drivers
- Partner with stakeholders to enhance visibility into timing of cash inflows and outflows
Accounting & Close Responsibilities
- Support month-end close through journal entries, reconciliations, and flux analysis
- Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP, SOX controls, and audit requirements
- Assist with audit requests, lender reporting, and regulatory filings
Self-Driven Value Creation
- Drive scenario planning with cascading decision trees. Aspire to a no-surprises model.
- Identify errors and adverse trends. Adapt and evolve with new customers, products, billing or payment types, locations and tech-stack – but habitually rationalize and simplify to scale.
- Display curiosity on the why, the customer experience, or data point connections to elevate the level of financial insight and purpose your role brings to the business
What You'll Bring:
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or higher, with knowledge of U.S. GAAP
- 5+ years of relevant experience; public company or public accounting experience preferred
- Cash operations experience in a SAAS or high-volume environment is required
- International experience is required with multiple legal entities and currencies is required
- CPA and SOX 404 experience is required
- Demonstrated attention to detail, including expertise in error detection and prevention
- Demonstrated communication skills required to achieve a high rate of forecast accuracy
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects with strong organizational skills
- Demonstrates strong judgment, a sense of urgency, critical thinking, problem solving, and professional skepticism where needed
- Experience implementing systems, preferably SAAS solutions
- Demonstrated tenacity for skill progression, such as AI, Robotic Process Automation, Excel macros, visual storytelling, project management or targeted soft skills
The expected base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000 annually.
Compensation may vary depending on several factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
