Objectives of this role:
The Senior Account Director is an agency representative and strategic lead for multiple pieces of business. This role is responsible for ensuring client satisfaction and driving organic business growth. You'll provide overall direction for your account teams, serve as the primary consultative partner to mid-to-senior-level clients, and lead the development of strategic communication plans.
Position Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership & Client Management
- Function as a principal agency representative to mid-to-senior-level clients, serving as the strategic lead for multiple accounts.
- Lead the development of strategic communication plans and identify communication strategies that help achieve client goals.
- Guide the development of diverse content for multiple channels, including websites, digital ads, webinars, videos, and speaker bureau content.
- Lead the development and presentation of new proposals to clients.
- Identify opportunities to expand agency business within and across accounts.
Financial & Business Oversight
- Oversee the budgeting process and collaborate with agency leadership to prepare and manage annual client fee budgets.
- Oversee the management of accurate forecasts, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded.
- Actively identify and follow up on organic growth and new business leads as time permits.
- Support in the development of proposals and approvals of pre- and post-mailings.
Personnel & Team Leadership
- Manage, develop, and guide the account teams, ensuring high-quality output and staffing efficiencies.
- Provide clear direction and mentorship to the Account Director.
- Determine with the account director the manpower needs of your account group to best service the client. Work closely with account leads on team staffing allocation.
- Collaborate with peers to maintain a consistent approach across all teams where possible.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and identify developmental opportunities for team members.
Agency & Growth
- Ensure agency resources are deployed with maximum effectiveness to meet client needs.
- Identify areas of potential weakness within the agency and collaborate with team directors to find solutions.
- Review and approve creative briefs and brand backgrounders for new clients.
- Possess a strong working knowledge of publication management platforms and provide direction to account teams.
Qualification Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree (minimum), preferably in health sciences, marketing, or communications field; an advanced degree (PharmD, BSN, PhD, MS) is a plus.

Experience: 8+ years of pharmaceutical marketing and agency experience, including a proven track record of managing direct reports.

Skills:
- Strong scientific acumen and experience actively guiding the development of branded and disease-state educational content.
- Strong digital acumen and experience guiding the development of cross-channel, integrated marketing programs.
- In-depth knowledge of the pharmaceutical/healthcare and agency industries.
- Thorough understanding of marketing, communications planning, and branding.
- Proven leadership ability, excellent communication skills, and a track record of earning the respect of peers and colleagues.
- Ability to travel at least 10-15% annually.
