Based in our Barcelona Studio, join the talented team in Montréal and embark on a unique gaming adventure! We are looking for a passionate Senior Character Artist to bring their skills to our Dungeons & Dragons® PC/Console video game project. This innovative project blends Action-RPG/Survival mechanics with the unique elements of life simulation games to redefine the genre and capture the imagination of gamers around the world.
Role Description
- Create (Sculpt, Model, UV, texture, and create materials) high-quality characters and creatures.
- Deliver excellent translations of characters while considering game design constraints and respecting a strong artistic direction.
- Work closely with the Lead 3D Character Artist to ensure the visual target is always exceeded and stylistically consistent.
- Coordinate with tools and technology teams to develop necessary solutions for creating the best characters possible.
- Review assets to make certain that they satisfy their intended design and are ready for rigging and animation.
- Collaborate with other disciplines such as Design, Concept Art, Animation, Tech Art, and VFX to ensure that characters are fully realized.
- Verify the quality of assets in the game, and make improvements where necessary to fit technical constraints, performance targets, and artistic direction.
- Ensure the timely completion of assets on style and at the desired quality bar.
- Mentor Intermediate and Junior 3D Character Artists by providing guidance and feedback.
- +6 years of experience as a Character Artist
- High-quality portfolio of gamedev-relevant 3D Character Art, preferably with an emphasis on stylization.
- Able to interpret and follow concepts and reference material to create clean, detailed, and accurate 3D Character models.
- An excellent understanding of game mechanics related to characters, objects, and environments.
- Experience integrating 3D assets into industry-leading game engines such as Unity or Unreal. (Unity experience is a desired plus.)
- High proficiency in modeling programs such as 3DSMAX, Maya, Blender, Zbrush, and texture/material authoring tools such as Photoshop and Substance.
- Excellent high and low poly modeling skills, as well as demonstrable skill with texture and shader creation within a PBR pipeline
- Attention to detail for both aesthetic and technical quality.
- Deep knowledge of human and animal anatomy.
- Mastery of form, shape, structure, and silhouette in regard to modeling.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively coordinate with every department of a game development team.
- Ability to be resourceful and come up with creative solutions.
- Effective time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Educated on the latest trends and have a strong perspective on how they relate to our current and future projects.
