We're seeking a Scrappy AI-First Engineer to build and scale AI-powered tools that accelerate electric aviation development. You'll work directly with engineering teams to identify opportunities, rapidly prototype solutions using LLMs and modern AI frameworks, and deploy production systems that make our engineers more effective. This role combines full-stack development with cutting-edge AI implementation in a fast-paced, high-impact environment. How you will contribute to revolutionizing electric aviation:
  • Build -> Measure -> Learn.  Think like an entrepreneur
  • Design, write, test and deploy production-ready code
  • Collaborate directly with stakeholders to continuously improve our applications
  • Willingly consider alternative perspectives and welcome constructive feedback
  • Build RAG systems and chatbots integrated with internal knowledge bases
  • Build Knowledge Graph systems with automated ingestion pipelines for structured and unstructured data, implement entity linking and ontology management, and develop graph traversal APIs for semantic querying
  • Develop custom AI workflows using Claude, GPT, and open-source models
  • Create APIs and integrations connecting AI services to existing engineering tools
  • Participate in the software guild(s) to improve Beta’s software organization
  • Displays the ability to acknowledge and learn from past mistakes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement
  • Create and maintain technical documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and future development
  • Minimum Qualifications:
  • In-office presence required at either our South Burlington, Vermont or Raleigh, North Carolina offices
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a relevant field
  • Familiarity with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, AWS Bedrock)
  • Database experience (SQL/NoSQL)
  • Experience with Python or Typescript and API development
  • Above and Beyond Qualifications:
  • Experience with vector databases (pgvector, etc.)
  • Knowledge of prompt engineering and RAG architectures
  • Docker/containerization experience
  • Experience with AI/ML model deployment
