Engage in developing and optimizing protein production processes for therapeutic candidates while fostering collaborative innovation in a dynamic research team.

Ascendis Pharma is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist (M.Sc.) or Scientist (Ph.D.) to join the Protein Sciences group. In this role, you will be responsible for producing therapeutic protein candidates for pre-clinical in vitro and in vivo testing. We are looking for a creative and proactive scientist with strong problem-solving skills, a can-do attitude, and demonstrated expertise in protein sciences, including expression, purification, and characterization.

Do you thrive in a collaborative team where supporting others, sharing knowledge, and clear communication are part of everyday work?  Are you excited to apply scientific creativity - developing new ideas, technologies, or approaches - while working on a solid foundation of analytical thinking and rigor? Do you enjoy working on challenging projects and adapt easily to changing priorities and evolving goals? Would you like to apply your scientific expertise to help develop novel drugs that improve patients' lives?

Beyond technical excellence, we are looking for a colleague who brings curiosity and conceptual thinking to the table - to contribute to the generation of new ideas and innovative concepts.

  • Continuously improve existing workflows and implement new technologies
  • Analyze, document, and present results to multidisciplinary project teams
  • Communication with vendors and CROs, and CDMOs
  • Prepare SOPs, scientific reports, patent examples, and conduct literature research

  • Strong hands-on experience in protein purification and analytical techniques (ÄKTA/HPLC); deep knowledge of chromatography and downstream process development
  • Proficiency in protein characterization (e.g., SEC, RP-HPLC)
  • Experience in mammalian protein expression systems (e.g., HEK293, CHO); skills in molecular biology and protein engineering are highly desired
  • High motivation and flexibility to support therapeutic protein development
  • Structured, detail-oriented working style
  • Excellent communication skills in English; good working knowledge of German
  • Strong team player with a passion for interdisciplinary collaboration and innovation
