Your role:

  • Safely transport students within your community to and from school, ensuring a reliable and positive experience each day
  • Prioritize student safety at all times, including during boarding, transit, and exiting the vehicle
  • Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the bus remains in proper and safe operating condition
  • Maintain the cleanliness and sanitation of the bus, including assisting with fueling and basic upkeep to present a well kept, professional vehicle
  • Accurately complete daily Hours of Service reports and maintain required documentation in compliance with company and regulatory standards
  • Immediately report any mechanical issues or concerns affecting the safe operation of the vehicle
  • Address and report any student behaviour issues in a timely and professional manner, following company procedures
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with safety practices, policies, and regulations
  • Demonstrate professionalism, patience, and care while fostering a safe and respectful environment for all passengers

Requirements

Your profile:

  • You are safety focused
  • You hold a valid minimum full G class drivers license for at least 1 year (Preference will be given to E or B class drivers)
  • You are 21 years of age or over.
  • You are a safe driver with a clean driving record
  • You can obtain a clean criminal record search and/or vulnerable sector screening
  • You have sound knowledge of St. Thomas and surrounding areas
  • You have the ability to work independently
  • You are available for the required shifts: Monday - Friday between 6am - 9:30am and 1pm - 4:30pm (specific start and end times will vary depening on the specific detials of each route)
  • You possess solid communication skills
  • You are comfortable working in a unionized enviroment

Route Details:

  • This will be a casual position until a permanent route becomes available in your area. Applicants must be willing to operate all school-purpose vehicles including big yellow buses, mini yellow buses, wheelchair accessible buses, and minivans, or, at minimum, be prepared to drive a mini yellow bus, a wheelchair accessible bus, and a minivan.

Please note, applicants who are only interested in driving a minivan will not be considered.

 

Your location:

  • The main yard in London is located at 573 Admiral Court. Drivers in St. Thomas and surrounding areas will start and end their routes at a secondry park-out location in St. Thomas. Where space permits, drivers may also take their bus home and begin their route directly from their driveway!

Hourly Rates:

We offer competitive hourly pay depending on the size of vehicle you're driving:

  • Big Yellow, Mini-Yellow, or Wheelchair-Accessible Routes – $21.84/hour (Note: We do not have any big yellow routes in St. Thomas)
  • Minivan Routes – $20.96/hour
  • Base Rate (for time spent working but not driving a route) – $19.76/hour
