Apex is seeking a summer associate to assist in the creation and maintenance of SCADA tools that support our operating fleet of wind, solar, and battery projects. The SCADA Engineering Associate will support Apex Clean Energy’s SCADA team with communications audits, alarm standardization, system integrations, and automation improvements across operating renewable energy sites. This internship offers hands-on exposure to real-world SCADA systems, substation communications, alarm management, and fleet-wide operational support.

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
  • Interest in SCADA systems, industrial automation, or power systems
  • Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, ports, basic troubleshooting) preferred
  • Exposure to PLCs, RTACs, Ignition, or industrial control systems is a plus
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Previous energy experience or interest in renewable energy
  • The summer associate program will run from June 1 through August 7 but we can be flexible with the start and end dates
  • Hours: Full Time 
  • Type:  Non-Exempt
  • Paid Internship: Undergraduate, $17/Hour; Graduate, $27/Hour
  • Office Location: Our Charlottesville, VA headquarters
