SMX is seeking a SAN Administrator. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in the implementation and Maintenance of multiple Storage Area networks. This position requires a blend of technical expertise, creative problem-solving, and effective communication skills.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Storage Area Network (SAN) administration
    • Document processes, procedures, upgrades and problems.
    • Upgrade software, monitor performance and evaluate trends and needs.
    • Manage, transform and provide user access to large datasets. Install, configure, support and maintain storage area networks and associated technology.
    • All SAN connection VIA Fiber Currently maintaining ten different SAN
  • Enterprise Backup Administration
    • Monitor backup jobs across multiple platforms.
    • Perform routine disaster recovery scenarios.
    • Maintain backup policies and standards, including overseeing legal hold retention policies.
    • Troubleshoot performance problems and propose solutions.
    • Manage all equipment for backup environment to include servers, disk, and tape storage devices. Install client on all OS platforms as needed.
  • Collection and documentation of IT related data.
  • Monitoring/Alerting system deployment and configuration.
  • System management and contingency planning. Perform all infrastructure requirements as needed. Cabling, installing, inventory tracking. Support UNIX and Windows groups where assistance is required. (Deployments, Updates, Patches, etc.)
  • After Hours as needed.

Required Skills: 

  • Available to work onsite at Patuxent River NAS at least two days a week.
  • The selected applicant must have DoD 8570/5239 IAT Level II Certification (Security + CE equivalent, or greater), and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in RDT&E environments.
  • An active DoD Secret clearance is required to start. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • Scripting using NetApp CLI commands
  • Strong competency with NETAPP Storage systems. (FAS8200, AFF A200, AFF A300/A700 Cluster)
  • Experience in administering NetAPP Storage systems on Data ONTAP.
  • Strong competency with RUBRIK Backup systems
  • Knowledge of VMware vSphere Systems
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows Operating System
  • Knowledge of Networking
  • Knowledge of Data ONTAP version 9.x
  • Knowledge of Data Protection systems (backend backup systems, protocols and SLAs)
  • Proficient in Administering and Storage Provisioning in multi-vendor OS environment including Solaris, RedHat Linux, and Windows

  • Familiarity with communicating technical concepts with stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organizational and communication skills.

$87,600$146,000 USD
