To support this challenge, Syngenta's Commercial team is currently seeking a Sales Trainer to support the East Heartland Commercial Unit.

As a member of the Commercial Unit (CU) Leadership team, this role develops and implements sales and customer training programs and initiatives that align with Syngenta's Crop Protection (CP) strategy and key Commercial Unit imperatives. It provides leadership coaching and support to Managers and their team members to enable skill and capability development in alignment with the Syngenta Backbone. The role collaborates across a matrix organization to leverage Syngenta learning and capability standards for local adaptation, taking direction from both the Head of Field Force Excellence & Training (FFE&T) and CU Head to optimize sales and customer training within the assigned CU.

Accountabilities: 

  • Develop, organize, and facilitate training sessions for the assigned CU that will raise levels of competence, confidence, and commitment internally and with targeted strategic customers.
  • Create, Support, and inspire a learning environment throughout the sales organization that encourages people to develop themselves and each other.
  • Partner with FFE&T team members on national training courses for new sales hires/Developmental Sales Representatives (DSRs) and help coach and develop mentors within the CU to ensure successful onboarding and ongoing development of new team members.
  • Assess, design, develop, implement, and evaluate training programs for field sales force while leveraging appropriate internal and external resources.
  • Lead recruitment efforts for DSRs and summer interns within the CU in partnership with the Talent Acquisition team, Sales Managers, and CU Head.
  • Key Contributor to the CU leadership team on people leadership and development activities. Connection to the CU campaign development and effective implementation is expected.
  • Develop and implement a blended curriculum (that includes pre-learning, learning, and post-learning) and infrastructure to support the process.
  • Create a learning and teaching process through the District Manager, Sales Rep, Agronomic Service Rep, and others to have an impact on learning and development based on identifying needs and areas of improvement.
  • Assess, design, develop, implement, and evaluate sales training programs to support the Commercial Unit strategy.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field required; master's degree preferred.
  • 2+ years of agricultural sales and/or people management experience.
  • Training, development, and facilitation experience.
  • Up to 60% travel is required for this role (based on seasonal needs).
  • All applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship support from Syngenta.

Salary for the role is $100,000 - $144,000 per year.
