Sales Support Engineer

TLDR

Effectively execute sales support activities to optimize back office operations for Key Account/Sales teams and ensure the timely realization of business targets and future revenues for assigned bids.

The Sales Support Engineer is responsible for a smooth and effective execution of the sales support activities, to ensure an optimal working Back Office for the Key Account / Sales team and to assist in the realization of the set targets according to the sales and marketing plan, optimization of business results and to secure future revenues for the assigned bids.

Tasks & Responsibilities

  • Layout warehouse to optimum capacity/cost price and according to product specifications
  • Stability calculations according to the current safety and stability standards, valid for the country concerned (assisted by Senior Project or Static Engineer)
  • Calculates the composition of components and calculates a correct quotation price on that basis. A complete technical description must also be prepared
  • In consultation with the Key Account Manager, you determine the priorities for files in order to meet the deadlines for drawing up quotations in the department
  • He keeps himself up to date with the evolution of the market in terms of products and customer requirements
  • Communication with suppliers is limited to the technical concept. Price discussions take place via the purchasing department
  • Technical support to sales in terms of technical presentation of the project
  • Gives yearly training to the sales team / back office of the Key Account

Sales Support activities

  • Applies the standardized, controlled, and transparent processes, systems, standard operating procedures, and adjoining documents (e.g., standardized quotation formats) and simultaneously provides input for the continuous assessment and improvement hereof.
  • Informs the Key Account Manager on all relevant information from collected market data to strive towards a competitive advantage.
  • Takes ownership of the results and proactively sets actions into motion when needed (without Key Account Managers’ intervention) to ensure that targets are always met.
  • Supplies project schedules and calculations.

Bid Management

  • Is responsible for compiling professional, award winning bids in a timely manner to reach optimum sales results.
  • Ensures that all assigned bids in accordance with the Sales Authorization Chart are reviewed for feasibility, prices, timelines, liabilities, risks, legal compliance, etc. in collaboration with e.g., Operations, Technical Solutions, Legal.
  • Works out a bidding strategy for complex technical bids together with the responsible Key Account Manager to achieve the best bidding and pricing solution based on the client's needs and the available equipment.
  • Ensures that input required from other departments is given in due time.
  • Works out project pricing and cost calculations and after internal assessment submits them for approval and feedback to the management and the responsible Key Account Manager.
  • Follows up the status of bids by contacting clients and the responsible Key Account Manager.

Administration

  • Provides the required reports and necessary information punctually on demand of the Key Account Manager.
  • Ensures that documentation is kept up to date in the ERP system.
  • Executes corrections of data in the ERP system where necessary.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong engineering mindset with a structured problem-solving approach, attention to detail and precision.
  • Eager and open to learning new skills on the job.
  • Good communication skills, particularly in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
  • Good working knowledge of AutoCAD Autodesk 2D.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
