The Global Payments Sales Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for the performance, strategy, and execution of Lightspeed's payments cross-sell and upsell motion across the existing North American, Australian, and European merchant base. This role involves managing a global team of Account Executives and Business Development Reps focused on driving the adoption of Lightspeed Payments within our existing Point of Sale merchant base.

Lightspeed Payments has been continually invested into since launch in 2019, integrating a number of unique value drivers into the combined POS-payments solution.  Building off of success our new business teams have experienced in selling the combined POS-payments solution, we are scaling our ability to sell payments into our existing merchant base, many of which became clients before we scaled Lightspeed Payments. 

This leader will report directly to the Head of Global GTM and will be responsible for defining the playbook, maximizing team productivity, and ensuring the team consistently meets and exceeds global revenue targets for payments adoption.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and coach a geographically dispersed team of 6 Account Executives and 2 Business Development Reps.
  • Go-to-Market Strategy: Continuously refine the global GTM playbook for the existing merchant payments cross-sell motion, ensuring global consistency, efficiency, and scalability.
  • Sales Cycle Optimization: Guide the team through the complete sales cycle, from qualification to payments launch- coaching on deal structures, pricing, and contract negotiations to ensure profitability and successful launches.
  • Talent and Training Strategy: Oversee the full talent lifecycle, including driving ongoing training focused on payments industry knowledge, consultative selling, and negotiation.
  • Internal Expertise & Collaboration: Act as the internal Subject Matter Expert on accelerating a payment organization. Collaborate closely with Account Management, Marketing, and Onboarding leadership to ensure a consistent lead flow and seamless merchant transition/launch.
  • Product Feedback Loop: Synthesize merchant feedback on product functionality, competitive threats, and market trends. Relay actionable insights directly to peers in the Product organization.
  • Forecasting & Pipeline Ownership: Own and deliver accurate weekly, monthly, and quarterly forecasts, conducting regular activity and pipeline reviews.

What you need to bring:

  • Leadership Experience (5+ years): Proven experience managing, mentoring, and scaling a high-performing sales team.
  • Payments Experience (5+ years): Extensive experience in the payment processing industry, specifically in merchant-facing sales, account management, or GTM roles.
  • Sales Closing Role (5+ years): Demonstrated experience in a closing role focused on payments or technology sales.
  • Target Achievement: Documented history of success in a quota-based environment.
  • Communication & Influence: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to influence C-level internal stakeholders and senior merchant contacts.

At Lightspeed, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your skill set, qualifications, experience, and market data. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We reasonably expect the total compensation for this position to be in the range of $100-160k CAD base. Lightspeed also provides a variety of employee benefits including, but not limited to, medical, dental, wellness, life and disability insurance, RRSP plan and match, paid parental leave top-up, and paid time off.Please note that this compensation information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within Ontario and reflects the amount Lightspeed is willing to pay at the time of this posting.
