Sales Development Representative

About Traversal

Traversal is the AI Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) for the enterprise—already trusted by some of the largest companies in the world to troubleshoot, remediate, and even prevent the most complex production incidents. Our mission is to free engineers from endless firefighting and enable them to focus on creative, high-impact work.

Our roots remain deeply embedded in AI research, and we’re channeling that scientific rigor and creativity into building the premier AI agent lab for the enterprise. Hence, what we’re proudest of is assembling the most talented yet nicest group of individuals, including researchers from MIT, Harvard, and Berkeley, to world-class engineers from industry: Citadel Securities, Cockroach Labs, Datadog, DE Shaw, ServiceNow, Glean, Perplexity, Pinecone, and more, to take on one of the hardest problems for AI to solve. And we’ve now built out a world-class GTM leadership bench, with leaders from companies such as Cribl and App Dynamics. Without the entire team, none of this would be possible

The Role

As a Sales Development Representative at Traversal, you will be the engine behind our outbound growth, serving as the first point of contact for engineering leaders and SRE teams. You will move beyond traditional "script-reading" to engage in technical conversations, helping prospects understand how agentic observability can transform their infrastructure. Working directly with our founding team and Account Executives, you’ll help define our top-of-funnel strategy and build the pipeline that fuels Traversal’s expansion into the enterprise market.

Responsibilities

  • Outbound Prospecting: Identify and engage high-fit engineering, platform, and SRE leaders through personalized, multi-channel outreach.

  • Technical Discovery: Conduct initial qualification calls to understand prospect pain points in observability and explain Traversal’s unique AI-native value proposition.

  • Strategic Messaging: Iterate on cold outbound sequences and social selling tactics to cut through the noise of the crowded developer tool landscape.

  • Pipeline Management: Manage a high-volume lead funnel, ensuring seamless handoffs to Account Executives and maintaining high data integrity in our CRM.

  • Market Intelligence: Act as a feedback loop for the product team by capturing and reporting common objections, competitor presence, and emerging buyer needs.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience in a BDR or SDR role, preferably within the DevOps, infrastructure, or developer tools space.

  • Strong technical curiosity and the ability to comfortably discuss concepts like observability, distributed systems, or Kubernetes with senior engineers.

  • Excellent written communication skills with the ability to craft high-signal, personalized outreach that prioritizes technical relevance over generic "salesy" tropes.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding pipeline generation targets in a fast-paced environment.

  • Resilient and self-motivated mindset, with the ability to thrive in an early-stage startup where processes are still being built.

  • Command of modern sales stacks, including experience with CRM tools (Salesforce/HubSpot) and sales engagement platforms (Outreach/Salesloft/Apollo).

Nice to Have

  • Prior experience at a Seed or Series A stage startup.

  • Familiarity with the "agentic" AI landscape or LLM-based software.

  • Experience using tools like LinkedIn Sales Navigator, Clay, or specialized developer-intent data platforms.
