We are seeking an experienced Safety Specialist to support Headquarters Marine Corps Installations Command (MCICOM) G-4 in Arlington, VA. This position requires an active Secret Clearance. This position provides enterprise-level occupational safety and risk management support across Marine Corps installations worldwide.
The Safety Specialist will support headquarters program direction, policy development, compliance oversight, reporting, training delivery, and safety management system (SMS) execution. This role interfaces routinely with senior Marine Corps leadership, installation safety offices, and external agencies to promote mission readiness through proactive safety and risk management programs.
This is a high-visibility position requiring strong technical expertise, exceptional communication skills, discretion, and the ability to operate effectively within a Headquarters Marine Corps environment.
Responsibilites include:
The Safety Specialist will:
Compile and consolidate Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports; maintain and support OSHA 300 logs for headquarters.
Deliver OSHA 10-Hour and 30-Hour training, Supervisor 4–8 hour training, and new employee safety indoctrination in accordance with current Safety Management System (SMS) policy. Manage and utilize enterprise safety and task management systems, including:
Risk Management Information (RMI) modules
SharePoint
Support application testing, module updates, and coordination with system owners and prime contractors. Provide oversight and compliance assessment of more than 110 safety services across Marine Corps installations. Research, draft, and coordinate naval correspondence, briefs, policy memoranda, instructions, and safety-related communications. Assist with development and implementation of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) and Warehouse Handling Equipment (WHE) programs in coordination with the Naval Crane Center and in accordance with NAVSUP and NAVFAC program requirements.
Required Skills
Bachelor’s degree and at least ten (10) years of professional safety experience; OR Master’s degree and at least five (5) years of professional safety experience.
Certifications & Training (Required):
OSHA 30-Hour General Industry (or Construction, as applicable)
OSHA 511 – Occupational Safety and Health Standards for General Industry
OSHA 501 – Trainer Course in OSHA Standards for General Industry
Demonstrated experience delivering OSHA 10- and 30-Hour training
Other Requirements:
Active SECRET clearance
Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations, safety management systems, mishap reporting, and risk management principles
Experience managing OSHA 300 logs and safety reporting requirements
Strong written communication skills, including drafting formal correspondence, policy documents, and executive-level briefings
Experience working with enterprise safety or risk management information systems
Ability to analyze and present safety data in dashboards, reports, and briefings
Ability to interact professionally with senior military and civilian leadership

Experience within Headquarters-level DoD organizations
Familiarity with NAVSUP MHE Program and NAVFAC P-307 WHE Program requirements
