About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Routing Engineer to join Cisco's dynamic Routing development team in Bangalore. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the full software development lifecycle, including feature development, rigorous testing, seamless integration, and comprehensive support of our cutting-edge routing solutions. This role offers an excellent opportunity to expand your knowledge of Cisco development and unit-test environments, while contributing to the stability and performance of our network infrastructure. You will also be involved in issue triage, support, monitoring, and resolution, ensuring the highest levels of customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in networking protocols, operating systems, and programming, with a passion for solving complex problems and delivering innovative solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Participate in the design, development, and implementation of new features for Cisco's routing solutions.
- Develop and execute comprehensive unit and integration tests to ensure the quality and reliability of the software.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate new features into the existing codebase.
- Triage, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and performance issues.
- Monitor network performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Provide technical support to internal and external customers.
- Contribute to the development of technical documentation and training materials.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest networking technologies and trends.
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and adherence to coding standards.
- Work closely with senior engineers to learn and grow your technical skills.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Work experience: Between 5 to 7 years in software development, with a focus on networking.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Electronics and Communication, or a related technical field.
- Expert knowledge and hands-on experience in C and scripting languages, preferably Python.
- Sound knowledge of operating system concepts and system programming on Linux-based systems.
- Strong understanding of network and multithreaded programming concepts.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with debugging tools and techniques.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies, such as Agile.
