The University of Notre Dame invites applications and nominations for a distinguished scholar and visionary leader to serve as the Roth Gibson Professor of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering and Director of the Hessert Aerospace Laboratories. This senior, faculty leadership role is intended for an internationally recognized aerospace researcher who will provide strategic direction and intellectual leadership to advance the laboratories as a world class hub for aerospace research, education, and collaboration.
The Director will integrate and elevate the laboratory’s exceptional experimental, computational, and theoretical capabilities to address critical and emerging challenges in aerospace engineering. The successful candidate will cultivate a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment that supports faculty, postdoctoral researchers, graduate and undergraduate students, and visiting scholars, while enhancing the global impact and reputation of Notre Dame’s aerospace enterprise.
Key Responsibilities
This is an endowed, senior level faculty appointment, with compensation and start up package commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position carries substantial leadership responsibility, strategic influence, and institutional support.
