Robotics Software Engineer, Large Scale Learning

Role

As a Robotics Software Engineer for Large-Scale Learning you will build the infrastructure and tools required to scale data collection and model training for Physical AI across a large number of robot workcells and industrial assembly tasks. You will design data collection workflows, manage robot hardware experiments in a manufacturing context, and orchestrate data acquisition from workcells distributed across multiple timezones, utilizing internal cloud infrastructure for long-term storage. In this role, you will ensure dataset availability for ML training, contribute to core training pipelines, and validate model performance across diverse tasks.

How your work moves the mission forward

• Leverage internal cloud and ML infrastructure and work with the robotics team to generate high-quality, training-ready datasets.
• Build and maintain internal tools, including web frontends and command-line interfaces, to streamline the collection, inspection, and processing of datasets.
• Orchestrate large-scale data collection and physical experiments across a fleet of robotic workcells.
• Support and optimize the development of the team’s ML training pipelines to ensure scalability and reliability.

Skills you will need to be successful

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
• 2 years of professional software development experience in Python or Go.
• Track record of working in a lab environment and conducting physical experiments on mechatronic industrial hardware.
• Strong motivation to work closely with partners and cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Business fluency in English.

Skills that will differentiate your candidacy

• Experience managing cloud-based ML training and familiarity with Argo Workflows.
• Experience in large-scale data collection from mechatronic systems (e.g., robotics, automotive, or consumer electronics).
• Deep understanding of industrial robotics and automation equipment.
• Expertise in Reinforcement Learning (RL) and/or Learning from Demonstration (LfD).
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP): Familiarity with Google Cloud services, specifically Storage, BigQuery, Firestore, and Kubernetes Engine (GKE).
• Professional software development experience in C++, preferably within robotics or mechatronic systems.
