The role of a Group Respite Nurse is to provide nursing care to a small group of children during their shift in collaboration with direct care professionals.  Group services support children with varying needs and abilities over the weekend. ChildServe’s Respite service allows parents to attend events for their other children, schedule appointments for themselves, or take time to recharge. 

 

Schedule

 

  • PRN
  • 1-2 weekends per month
  • Days, evenings and overnight shifts available

 

How You’ll Make an Impact

 

  • Provide nursing support, rehabilitative needs, and preventative care in a ratio of 1:3 at the ChildServe Center
  • Interact with the child and participate in fun activities.
  • Complete electronic documentation and MARS
  • Possible skills used: medication administration, g-tube nutrition, seizure management, urinary cath, respiratory support, etc.

 

What You’ll Need

 

  • Current valid license as a RN or LPN in Iowa.
  • Valid driver’s license with two or fewer violations in the past three years
  • Active BLS from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 lbs, be mobile within the clinic areas, and frequently bend, lift, reach, and stand.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in (or through) reading, writing and speaking the English language.
