Position: Paraeducator (Full-Time or Part-Time)
Location: RISE Academy, San Jose, California (in-person)
School Year: 2026–2027


RISE Academy is seeking a compassionate, proactive Para educator to support students and teachers for the 2026–2027 school year. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys working closely with students, strengthening classroom culture, and providing targeted academic and behavioral support in a mission-driven, faith-based environment. Full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

Key Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of assigned school administrator(s) and classroom teachers, provide behavior support and/or instruction to individual students and small groups inside or outside the classroom
  • Monitor, document, and report student behavior, engagement, and academic performance to relevant staff
  • Actively supervise students in indoor and outdoor spaces, including during transitions, recess, lunch, and other assigned times
  • Administer minor first aid as needed in accordance with school protocols
  • Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up on learning activities
  • Assist students in locating and using instructional and resource materials
  • Support the development and preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources
  • Provide accommodations and learning supports for students with documented needs, including supports aligned to Individualized Learning Plans and/or IEPs when applicable
  • Assist with grading, recording, and distributing student work; check in homework and returned papers
  • Promote positive student behavior, self-dignity, and independence through positive reinforcement strategies and consistent expectations
  • Communicate and collaborate with classroom teachers, school administrators, and the school counselor regarding student needs and progress
  • Participate in staff professional development activities and collaborative meetings as assigned
  • Complete appropriate documentation for students participating in special programs as required by state and federal guidelines
  • Abide by the staff handbook and all school policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal regulations
  • Assist with school events and extracurricular activities as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications (Required)

  • Associate degree from an accredited institution (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
  • Ability to effectively support student behavior and classroom routines using positive, consistent strategies
  • Knowledge of curriculum/instruction and ability to support learning in assigned subject areas
  • Ability to modify instruction and supports to meet a range of student needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with students, families, and staff
  • Comfort using technology and common workplace tools including email, internet, word processing, spreadsheets, and classroom equipment (computers, calculators, printers, projectors)
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment
  • Alignment with RISE Academy’s mission and comfort working in a faith-based school environment


Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with students in a formal school setting (paraeducator, instructional aide, substitute, tutoring, etc.)
  • Training or credentials related to special education supports, behavior intervention, or professional learning programs


Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, and actively supervise students throughout the day in classroom and outdoor settings
  • Ability to occasionally lift/carry up to 20 pounds (student materials, supplies, classroom resources)
  • Frequent use of a computer/keyboard and standard classroom/office equipment
  • Ability to maintain a safe, organized, hazard-free workspace and follow school safety procedures
  • Occasional evening/weekend availability for school events may be required


Compensation
Compensation is based on credentials, relevant experience, academic degrees, and certifications. Children of staff members may be eligible for tuition discounts.

Salary
$23 – $27 per hour
