About Global Fund for Women 

Global Fund for Women is a feminist fund that was founded nearly 40 years ago. Global Fund for Women envisions a world where movements for gender justice have transformed power and privilege for a few into equity and equality for all. We fund bold, ambitious, and expansive gender justice movements to create meaningful change that will last beyond our lifetimes.  

 

Purpose 

Global Fund for Women is seeking qualified and experienced interpreters and translators to join our vendor database to support our ongoing and future language service needs. This Request for Proposal (RFP) aims to identify service providers capable of providing timely, high-quality interpretation and/or translation services in various languages. 

 

Instructions  

In alignment with our commitment to equity and inclusivity, we strongly encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and regions to apply. To ensure a consistent process, we ask that you follow the outlined format. We welcome proposals that offer innovative, community-centered solutions, especially those rooted in feminist leadership, justice, equity, and long-term sustainability. 

 

As per the submission guidelines of this RFP, please limit your proposal to no more than 5 pages, excluding CVs, resumes, and required forms. We will be reviewing proposals on a rolling basis through June 1, 2026. Proposals received after this date may not be considered.

 

Shortlisted respondents may be invited to deliver a virtual presentation or demonstration. Global Fund for Women will provide notice of the time and format for these presentations.

We request that all communication related to this procurement be directed solely to the designated contact email. Any attempt to influence this process through other means, including lobbying or indirect outreach, may result in disqualification. Contacting individuals outside of the designated contact (either directly or indirectly) to influence this procurement may result in the respondent being deemed non-responsive and ineligible for contract consideration. 


This RFP does not obligate Global Fund for Women to award a contract, nor does it commit Global Fund for Women to cover any costs related to the preparation or submission of a proposal.


SCOPE OF SERVICES 

We are looking to engage professionals to provide the following services on an as-needed basis: 

  • Simultaneous and/or Consecutive Interpretation for virtual or in-person meetings, conferences, and events. 
  • Written Translation, Editing, and Transcription of documents, reports, surveys, presentations, etc. 
  • Localization and Cultural Adaptation of materials as needed. 
  • Language Consulting, including support for building multilingual resources. 


Languages of high interest include (but are not limited to): 

  • Arabic  
  • Filipino/Tagalog 
  • French
  • Spanish Latin America   

 

Eligibility and Qualifications 

Applicants may be individuals or agencies and must demonstrate: 

  • Proven experience in professional translation and/or interpretation services, managing complex, large-scale, or multi-language projects.  
  • Native or near-native fluency in target language(s) and strong command of English. 
  • Familiarity with terminology relevant to our field of work (e.g., social justice, grantmaking, feminist philanthropy) from a global lens. 
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple assignments. 
  • Familiarity with technology and collaborative communication tools (e.g., Zoom, Outlook, Word).  
  • (For interpreters), proven expertise with facilitating live interpretation via Zoom using the simultaneous interpretation function. 
  • Ability to effectively manage invoices, including tracking payment requests and submissions in accordance with agreed upon timelines and billing procedures.

TYPE OF CONTRACT TO BE AWARDED 

Global Fund for Women will provide either fixed-fee (price per word, etc.) or level of effort (time expended) rates subject to a maximum not to exceed fee, or other arrangement that is fair and favorable to Global Fund for Women.   

 

CONTRACT TERM AND DELIVERY DATES 

Global Fund for Women expects this scope of work to be completed on an ongoing, as-needed basis. The initial contract term will be for one-year, with an option to renew for four (4) consecutive years thereafter.  

 

EVALUATION AND AWARD PROCESS 

The awards will be made to responsible Respondents whose proposals follow the RFP instructions, meet the eligibility requirements, and meet or exceed the minimum required technical specifications from the submission requirements, and are judged to be the best value to Global Fund for Women. Global Fund for Women reserves the right to perform any of the following: 

  • Conduct negotiations with and/or request clarifications from any respondent prior to award. 
  • Issue partial awards or split the awards among various respondents, if in the best interest of Global Fund for Women. 
  • Cancel this RFP at any time. 

 

GENERAL CONDITIONS 

Global Fund for Women remains committed to non-discrimination, the promotion of human rights, and the eradication of systemic inequalities. We expect all respondents to affirm that their practices reflect a commitment to these values. We encourage submissions from companies or individuals who are traditionally underrepresented in procurement processes. 


This RFP does not obligate Global Fund for Women to award a contract, reimburse proposal preparation costs, or commit to procuring services or supplies. We retain the right to accept or reject submissions, negotiate with qualified sources, or cancel the RFP in part or in full when it aligns with Global Fund for Women's best interests. 


Respondents must disclose any indictments for alleged felonies or felony convictions within the past five years under U.S. federal, state, or territorial law, or any other jurisdiction. This requirement extends to associations, partnerships, corporations, and their respective officers, partners, directors, or similar governing bodies. Should an indictment or conviction come to light post-contract award, Global Fund for Women may pause work pending further investigation or terminate the agreement. 


Respondents confirm that individuals with authority over them have not been criminally convicted related to their professional conduct by final judgment. They also affirm no history of serious professional misconduct proven by any justifiable means. 


Respondents further confirm they are not bankrupt, under court administration, in creditor arrangements, or in similar legal statuses under national laws. They attest to fulfilling obligations regarding social security contributions and taxes as per relevant legal provisions. 


Additionally, respondents declare no convictions for fraud, corruption, involvement in criminal organizations, or money laundering by final judgment. They assert no use of child or forced labor, discrimination, and uphold rights to freedom of association and collective bargaining per International Labour Organization conventions. 


Global Fund for Women strictly prohibits any exchange of gifts with respondents. Discovery of such exchanges may disqualify respondents from future procurements and could result in disciplinary actions against involved Global Fund for Women personnel. 


Respondents must disclose any financial or organizational interests that may pose a conflict of interest or its appearance, such as employment, consultancy, partnership, investment, or board membership with potential competitors, contractors, or beneficiaries of Global Fund for Women. 


Respondents warrant non-discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, political affiliation, disability, political status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, veteran status, physical handicap, age, marital status, or any other protected characteristic under the law. 


Lastly, U.S. law prohibits transactions with individuals or organizations associated with terrorism. Respondents under any resulting award must ensure compliance with these laws and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. 

 

By submitting a proposal in response to this RFP, respondents selected for award agree to comply with all applicable laws governing their activities and obligations under the contract.
