Terran Orbital is seeking an experienced RF & Communication Systems Architect to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Sr. Director, Platforms & Mission Engineering the RF & Communication Systems Architect will lead the design, integration, and optimization of advanced communications architectures for next-generation satellite platforms. This role requires deep expertise in RF front-end (RFFE), modem design, active electronically scanned arrays (AESA), link analysis, GNSS, direct conversion architectures, and ADC/DAC technologies. As a technical SME, you will architect end-to-end communications solutions, define technology roadmaps, and ensure seamless integration of RF subsystems into spacecraft and mission architectures. You will collaborate across avionics, propulsion, navigation, and computing domains to deliver resilient, high-performance communications systems for government and commercial missions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Technology Vision & Strategy
Systems Integration & Technical Leadership
• Architect end-to-end RF/Comm solutions spanning RFFE, modem, AESA, GNSS, and digital conversion subsystems.
• Direct multidisciplinary engineering teams in subsystem design, integration, and qualification.
• Champion innovative approaches to increase throughput, resilience, and spectral efficiency.
Program Execution
• Oversee execution of RF communications projects from concept through deployment.
• Establish and maintain technical performance metrics, schedules, and budgets.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, supply chain, and mission operations to ensure seamless integration.
Team Development & Collaboration
• Mentor and lead engineering teams, fostering technical excellence and innovation.
• Partner with vehicle engineering, mission architecture, and external stakeholders to deliver effective solutions.
• Represent the company in industry forums, standards bodies, and with government partners.
