Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong Revenue Accountant to join our dynamic accounting team and support our rapidly scaling business. The ideal candidate has experience in fast-paced, high-growth environments, a solid foundation in U.S. GAAP, and strong data reconciliation skills. In this role, you will support core revenue accounting operations, collaborate with cross-functional partners, and help build or improve scalable processes. This position is well-suited for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys solving problems with data, and is comfortable operating within evolving systems and workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
Revenue Recognition: Ensure accurate revenue recognition in compliance with U.S. GAAP. Analyze revenue performance, monitor product-related activity, and ensure accurate classification and recognition.
Data Reconciliation & Analysis: Perform data reconciliations between financial systems, payment processors, and other relevant platforms to ensure accuracy and completeness of revenue data. Use SQL and data tools (e.g., Databricks) to extract, analyze, and reconcile large datasets. Conduct ad hoc data analyses to support reconciliation efforts and financial reporting needs.
Accounting Operations & Close: Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation. Contribute to the timely and accurate close of revenue-related accounts.
Process Improvement: Identify, design, and implement improvements to streamline revenue accounting processes. Build and optimize workflows to support scale and improve accuracy, leveraging automation.
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Financial Operations, Treasury, and Data Analytics teams ensure revenue flows and data pipelines are accurately designed and understood. Work closely with Business Finance to support downstream reporting needs.
Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting through month end close, reconciliations and flux meetings. Ensure that revenue-related financial data is accurately reported.
Audit Support & Compliance: Prepare documentation and provide support for internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
5-8 years of experience in accounting.
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, with the ability to apply guidance to new or evolving business activities.
Demonstrated success in high-growth or early-stage environments, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and operate effectively amid ambiguity.
Proficiency with NetSuite (or similar), fluency in Excel/Google Sheets, and experience with financial close tools (e.g., Numeric).
Exceptional analytical skills, including the ability to evaluate accounting implications and recommend process improvements.
Clear and effective communicator, capable of translating technical accounting concepts for non-accounting stakeholders and collaborating across teams.
Comfort building processes from scratch as well as optimizing existing workflows.
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA or equivalent certification preferred
Experience in Big 4 public accounting firm (or similar)
Hands-on experience supporting financial audits, internal or external
SQL experience
Understanding of fintech products and services, payment processing, payment flows and the regulatory environment
