Retention Manager Email and SMS for US DTC Company (Remote)

Having built an 8-figure flagship brand with them, they are now expanding into soccer and pickleball. Their goal is to help 1 million families rediscover the joy of physical play by 2030.

We are looking for a Retention Manager to own and execute our full retention strategy for a growing DTC brand.

Because they operate in a low-LTV, non-subscription category, retention is focused on maximizing repeat purchases and extracting the most value from paid acquisition. This role will be primarily responsible for email and SMS strategy and execution, as well as developing new opt-in strategies and improving lead generation performance.

Beyond lifecycle marketing, this role will also contribute to building the brand’s authority and community presence, helping position the company as a trusted resource for parents raising active, healthy kids in a digital-first world.

The retention scope will remain the core responsibility, with community-building acting as an additional growth lever.

The Role

Retention Strategy & Execution

  • Own and execute the full retention marketing strategy
  • Manage and optimize email and SMS campaigns and automations
  • Increase repeat purchase rate and customer lifetime value
  • Plan and execute lifecycle campaigns and promotional flows

Monitor and improve retention performance metrics

  • Lead Generation & Opt-In Strategy
  • Develop new opt-in strategies to maximize value from paid traffic
  • Optimize lead capture across funnels and landing pages
  • Improve conversion from subscriber to customer
  • Support acquisition efforts through strong lifecycle integration

Community & Brand Authority

  • Support the development of the brand as an authority in its category
  • Help build community initiatives such as social channels or groups
  • Contribute to LinkedIn growth and brand positioning
  • Support development of a Facebook community or similar initiatives

  • Conversion Rate (CR%)
  • Revenue Per Visitor (RPV)
  • Average Order Value (AOV)
  • Contribution Margin
  • Testing Velocity

Requirements

  • Experience managing email and SMS retention for DTC brands (US-DTC brand are a plus!), over 4 years.
  • Strong understanding of repeat purchase optimization
  • Experience building lifecycle campaigns and automations
  • Experience working with eCommerce brands
  • Data-driven and execution-focused
  • Comfortable owning retention strategy end-to-end
  • Intermediate-high level of English
