Job Purpose:

As a Retail Maintenance Engineer, you will be responsible for supervising and managing retail equipment and site maintenance activities. This includes overseeing minor capital expenditure projects such as pump replacements. Your main goal will be to ensure an efficient and effective maintenance service to VEU and its retailers, while staying within budget.

Principal Accountabilities:

 

  • Manage the Equipment Maintenance contracts and ensure that equipment and site maintenance is performed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards. This requires minimal interruption to station operations. You will also be responsible for signing off on work performance to initiate contractor payments.
  • Create and manage the annual maintenance budget and plans. This includes scheduling planned site maintenance works such as painting and minor repairs.
  • Oversee the quality control of local contractors' work and evaluate their performance against agreed key performance indicators. It is essential that contracts with maintenance service providers are managed in accordance with company contract management procedures.
  • Complete the timely capitalization of completed installations and manage the asset database and movements as per asset management procedures.
  • Conduct maintenance procurement in line with company contracting procedures.
  • Deliver an equipment maintenance service that achieves a high customer satisfaction score.
  • Provide support to the Construction Engineer as needed, including assisting with the implementation of capital expenditure and pump replacement projects from design to completion.

Key Challenges:

 

  • Ensure HSSE compliance in situations whereby maintenance contractors are working at sites located far away from the base, with wide spread across the country. 
  • Ensure operational integrity of facilities (buildings) versus limited spend 
  • Deliver maintenance service level/ KPIs

Requirements

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical field.
  • Knowledge of retail construction and maintenance, procurement, and tendering processes.
  • Familiarity with the components of service stations, as well as health, safety, security, and environmental specifications and standards.
  • Proficiency in using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems.
  • Computers literacy and good communication and interpersonal skills are also essential for this role.
