Job Purpose:

The Retail Construction Engineer is responsible for managing and coordinating construction projects related to retail facilities for the company. The role occupant will oversee the design, planning, and execution of these projects to ensure they meet the company's standards and requirements. Principal Accountabilities:

  • Ensure that construction projects are completed on time, within budget, and according to the company's standards and specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and objectives.
  • Oversee the selection and management of external contractors and consultants.
  • Monitor the progress of construction projects and address any issues or delays that arise.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Manage project budgets and timelines, and report on project status to senior management.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders to ensure smooth handover of completed projects.
  • Stay updated on industry best practices and implement improvements to enhance construction processes and efficiency.

  • Managing and adhering to the allocated budget for each project is crucial. This includes controlling costs and managing unforeseen financial issues that may arise during construction.
  • Ensuring that resources (human, material, financial) are used efficiently to avoid waste and maximize return on investment.

Requirements

Job Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

  •  Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction project management, preferably in the petroleum industry.
  • Strong knowledge of construction practices, building codes, and regulations.
  • Proven experience in managing multiple construction projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in project management software and tools.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
