In this crucial role, you will be responsible for evaluating residential property damage caused by water, fire, or contents damage, preparing detailed scope-of-work and time estimates, and developing comprehensive proposals. Your expertise in accurately defining the scope and time required will directly contribute to successful project outcomes and client satisfaction, particularly within the home insurance claims process.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough on-site evaluations of residential properties damaged by water, fire, or contents loss to accurately assess and define the full scope of required restoration.
  • Evaluate the necessity for specialized services, including Mold Remediation and Fire Mitigation.
  • Prepare accurate and detailed scope-of-work and time estimates for restoration projects. The core function of this role is to calculate the labor, equipment time, and overall project scope, ensuring estimates reflect the complexity and time investment of the restoration process.
  • Develop and present comprehensive proposals to clients and home insurance adjusters, clearly explaining the defined scope of work, labor required, and associated timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and insurance adjusters to ensure the approved scope aligns with the client's needs and the insurance claim requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of scope documents, estimates, contracts, and communications with clients and all stakeholders.
  • Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices for restoration, remediation, and insurance claim scoping.
  • Provide exceptional customer service and support throughout the estimation, claims, and project execution process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Restoration Estimator, Scope Specialist, or Damage Assessor specifically within the residential restoration industry.
  • Strong understanding of home restoration processes for damages including water, fire, and contents loss, with specific knowledge of Mold Remediation and Fire Mitigation protocols.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in defining the scope of work, estimating labor hours, and calculating equipment time (the primary focus of this role) for complex residential projects, utilizing industry-standard software (e.g., Xactimate).
  • In-depth knowledge of the home insurance claims process and the ability to effectively communicate, document, and negotiate project scope with insurance adjusters and carriers.
  • Excellent analytical skills for accurate remote damage assessment and translating information into a detailed, defensible scope and time estimate.
  • Strong attention to detail is critical for maintaining thorough digital records of damage assessments, photographic evidence, and project tracking for successful insurance claims.
  • Ability to clearly and professionally communicate the defined scope, timelines, and expectations to clients, internal teams, and insurance adjusters.
  • IICRC Certification (e.g., WRT, ASD, FSRT) is highly preferred.
