Residential Architectural Draftsperson - Custom Homes

We are seeking an experienced Architectural Draftsperson to support the design and documentation of high-end custom residential projects in Ventura County, CA. This role focuses on producing detailed construction drawings for luxury custom homes, remodels, and estate-level residential projects.

The ideal candidate has strong residential drafting experience, understands California residential building codes, and can translate conceptual designs into accurate, permit-ready construction documents. This is an immediate opportunity for a detail-oriented professional who thrives in a custom home design environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed architectural construction documents for custom homes and residential remodels
  • Develop floor plans, elevations, sections, details, and site plans
  • Translate conceptual design sketches into accurate, buildable drawings
  • Coordinate with architects, structural engineers, consultants, and permitting agencies
  • Ensure drawings comply with California Residential Code (CRC) and local Ventura County requirements
  • Revise plans based on redlines and client feedback
  • Assist with permit submittals and plan check corrections
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience drafting custom residential homes
  • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD (Revit experience a plus)
  • Knowledge of California building codes and residential construction practices
  • Experience producing permit-ready construction documents
  • Strong understanding of wood-frame construction and detailing
  • Ability to manage multiple residential projects simultaneously
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working on luxury or estate-level custom homes
  • Familiarity with coastal or hillside residential projects
  • Understanding of Title 24 energy compliance documentation
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or related field
