Research Associate (Spring 2026 C02077)

Under the supervision of the CNS Deputy Director, the Research Associate will assist in the operations and implementation of activities tasked to and performed at CNS, as described in the duties below.  

This is considered a part-time temporary, hourly, non-benefits eligible position. The minimum starting rate for the position is $29.40 per hour.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Complete deliverables for foundation/donor grants on a variety of nonproliferation topics; 
  • Mentor student research assistants supporting these projects; 
  • Conduct original research and write reports on nonproliferation; 
  • Assist in completing and developing new proposals and reports about existing CNS research projects for funders; 
  • Assist in the organization of seminars, meetings, events and outreach activities, including a major event occurring in April 2026. 

Requirements

Education  

M.A. degree in political science or international relations, preferably with specialization in nonproliferation and/or international security, or equivalent experience required. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities  

  • Excellent analytical, research, and report writing skills
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills
  • Capable of multi-tasking and working in a challenging, intense, and dynamic environment
  • Organizational and project management skills

Experience  

1 – 2 years of nonproliferation research experience

Physical Demands
