Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor cell cultures in a variety of culture systems, such as bioreactors, shake flasks, roller bottles, cell factories and cell stacks.
  • Design and execute experiments for cell line development, media optimization and upstream process development.
  • Optimize and evaluate media formulations for various cell lines and microorganisms.
  • Perform routine cell culture maintenance and cryopreservation.
  • Analyze cell growth, viability, productivity and metabolic profiles.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with downstream processing and analytical teams.
  • Document experimental procedures and results in lab notebooks and electronic systems.
  • Support technology transfer to manufacturing teams and external partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master’s in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Cell Biology, or a related field
  • At least 3 year's of experience with mammalian (preferably Vero and CHO cells) and microbial cell culture techniques
  • Relevant professional experience in the biotechnology industry is required
  • Prior experience handling RG2/BSL-2 microorganisms, including viruses, and performing related analytical techniques (such as TCID₅₀ and plaque assays)
  • Hands-on experience with aseptic techniques (BSL1–3), standard cell culture, and microbiological methods
  • Familiarity with bioreactor systems (e.g. Sartorius, Applikon) and process control
  • Knowledge of GMP regulations and documentation practices is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Willingness to work occasionally on weekends
  • Fluent in English, German an advantage

Due to legal reasons we are obliged to disclose the minimum salary for this position, which is € 44.000 gross per year based on full-time employment. However our salaries are market oriented and in line with your qualifications and experience.
