Ford-Gelatt, a SunSource Company and leading distributor and repair center of process pumps and components in the fluid process market, is currently seeking a Pump Mechanic for our Baton Rouge, LA repair facility.
We're looking for an energetic, self-driven and highly technical individual to join our Repair team.
Essential Functions
Assemble, test, trouble-shoot, service and repair a wide variety of pumps, gearboxes and other rotating process equipment, using drawings, schematics, manuals and diagnostic equipment
Inspect parts and various components to determine if they are repairable
Provide complete service report and repair recommendations
Diagnose problems and recommendations for repair
Specify parts and labor required to repair for quotation purposes
Assemble units according to manufacturer specifications and tolerances
Clean, organize and maintain shop and shop equipment
Participate in continuous improvement through training and associate development
Various other responsibilities around facility as needed
Experience, Education and Skills
Mechanical pump or rotating equipment experience
Vo-tech or other additional technical training is a plus
5+ years in industrial environment
Additional welding and/or machining skills is a plus
Good verbal and written communication skills
Ability to read and interpret schematics
Ability to work under pressure and handle daily changes in schedule and priorities
Must be able to stand for majority of workday and lift up to 75 lbs
