Remote Crisis Care On-Call Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
TLDR
Provide immediate, evidence-based virtual psychiatric care and medication management during critical after-hours windows for individuals facing mental health emergencies.
This is a dedicated on-call position. While shifts are split among the team of Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners, clinicians must provide a firm commitment to their assigned shifts two months in advance to ensure stable coverage.
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner must be fully available and responsive during the following shifts:

Weekdays: Monday - Thursday, 7:30 PM to 10:30 AM (next day)

Weekends: Friday 7:30 PM through Monday 10:30 AM (continuous full-weekend coverage)

Perform urgent comprehensive clinical assessments and as the primary on-call Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Coordinate closely with our after-hours nurse triage line to support the triage nurse in determining appropriate patient disposition and safety protocols.

Provide emergency psychiatric medication management and stabilization via phone.

Conduct high-acuity risk assessments and create immediate safety plans for patients in crisis.

Maintain meticulous clinical documentation in the EMR to brief the daytime Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and the broader clinical team.

Education: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

Certification: Board Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

Licensure: Active, unrestricted license to practice in New York.

Experience: Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric medication management.

Crisis Expertise: Proven experience in clinical risk management, suicide risk assessment, and safety planning as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.

Tech Savvy: Comfortable utilizing telehealth platforms and electronic medical records (EMR) in a remote environment.

Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a crisis intervention as a solo Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner during on-call hours.

Post-degree experience in emergency mental health services or urgent behavioral healthcare.

Experience launching or iterating on clinical care models in a startup or innovative healthcare setting.

Comprehensive knowledge of substance abuse and recovery principles.
Work is performed 100% from home. As an on-call Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you must have a private, secure workspace with reliable high-speed internet to conduct confidential phone sessions.
