Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform high-volume reconciliation of payment service provider (PSP) and merchant accounts, accounting for approximately 60– 70% of the role
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of balances by reconciling internal records against external payment providers and resolving discrepancies
  • Handle general ledger accounting tasks, including journal entries and month-end close activities
  • Support accounts receivable and accounts payable processes, including invoice review and processing
  • Ensure VAT compliance, including preparation, review, and documentation of VAT-related transactions
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel extensively for reconciliation, data analysis, and reporting (e.g., pivot tables, formulas, data validation)
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external providers to address reconciliation issues and improve process efficiency

Requirements

Must-have Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience (GAAP/IFRS)
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and IFRS reporting standards
  • Experience in EU VAT and general tax compliance is highly advantageous
  • Proven ability to perform account reconciliations and manage payment-related operations
  • Ability to support audits, ensure regulatory compliance, and guide junior team members
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel
  • Experience with XERO is a plus
  • Detail-oriented
  • Team player

Employment Type: Independent Contract - Freelance

Schedule: Monday to Friday – 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM Malta Time
