Overview
The Relationship Lead (RL) plays a pivotal role in Packt’s tech publishing ecosystem by driving both the acquisition of high-caliber authors and the execution of structured pre- and post-publication marketing initiatives.
As a dynamic link between subject matter experts, game developers, embedded engineers, technical artists, firmware developers, open-source contributors, and practitioner communities, the RL is responsible for discovering influential voices, nurturing long-term expert relationships, and ensuring that each title achieves visibility, engagement, and measurable commercial success across multiple channels.
This is a strategic, outward-facing DevRel role that requires a blend of relationship-building skills, campaign ownership, community fluency, and commercial awareness. This is NOT A SALES role. It is a growth-driven DevRel and ecosystem-building role.
Experience working in:
- Game development ecosystems (Unity, Unreal, Godot, Blender)
- Graphics pipelines, rendering, shaders
- Embedded systems, firmware, RTOS, IoT, Edge AI
- Or developer relations / community roles in technical domains
will be considered a strong plus.
Key Responsibilities
Post-Publication Marketing & Building Your Network of Tech Influencers
- Drive book visibility across Amazon, Packt.com (Direct), and third-party channels by executing structured outreach and campaign initiatives.
- Develop and execute influencer-focused campaigns by identifying respected voices in Game Dev and Embedded ecosystems across LinkedIn, YouTube, Discord, Reddit, GitHub, and industry forums.
- Secure endorsements, testimonials, guest posts, and co-created content from domain experts.
- Design title-specific promotion plans including Reviewer outreach, Community activations, Contributor-driven campaigns, Targeted list-building initiatives
- Partner with Growth to support metadata optimization, keyword alignment, and audience-specific messaging.
- Track campaign performance including review velocity, sentiment trends, and community engagement.
- You are accountable for ensuring expert relationships translate into measurable campaign impact.
Bulk Orders, Vendor Strategy & Partnerships
- Develop strategic partnerships that drive both community reach and commercial value.
- Build relationships with:
- Game studios (indie & AAA)
- Embedded engineering teams
- Training providers
- Vendor partners
- Conference organizers
- Identify and secure bulk purchase opportunities from studios, universities, bootcamps, and technical training partners.
- Explore licensing or long-term collaboration models with ecosystem partners.
- Coordinate internally with sales and marketing to align pricing, positioning, and execution for bulk opportunities.
Strategic Community & Developer Relations (DevRel)
- Build and activate developer ecosystems within Game Dev and Embedded Systems.
- Engage communities across GitHub, Reddit, Discord, Stack Overflow, and developer forums.
- Plan and support:
- Webinars
- AMAs
- Expert panels
- Technical workshops
- Conference collaborations
- Drive direct list growth through:
- Free events
- Vendor partnerships
- Co-branded landing pages
- Community activations
- Gather community insights to inform publishing priorities and future titles.
Amazon Review & Reputation Management
- Identify and engage credible Amazon reviewers.
- Coordinate structured reviewer outreach programs.
- Activate reader communities for post-launch review momentum.
- Track review volume, quality, and sentiment.
- Build scalable review acquisition systems to sustain visibility beyond launch cycles.
