Range Service Specialist | Machine Learning & Robotics | Full time office based | Sofia

Please note, this is not a hands on technical role, but working with our technical products

Introduction: Ocado Technology is changing the way the world shops using advanced Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Robotics, Big Data, Cloud and IoT. We develop the innovative software and hardware systems that power Ocado.com, as well as the unique ‘Ocado Smart Platform’ which is being implemented by ambitious retailers across the world from Europe to America, Asia and beyond. About the role: As a Range Service Specialist, you will act as the vital link between our physical grocery products and the "brains" of our autonomous robots. You will take full ownership of our product database, ensuring that every item—from a bag of oranges to a box of cereal - is accurately digitally mapped and optimised for robotic handling. By analysing performance data and "teaching" our AI through detail-oriented data labelling, you ensure our robots can see, grip, and move inventory with human-like precision.

You will work closely alongside our Partner Success team to ensure our global retail partners are getting the most out of the platform. By bridging the gap between technical constraints and partner goals, you will help decide which products are ready for the robotic stage and which need further optimisation. Your work ensures that as our partners grow, our robotic systems scale with them, maintaining the high standards of efficiency that define the Ocado Smart Platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end lifecycle of thousands of SKUs to ensure a high-quality and visually accurate product database.
  • Analyse product metrics, including success and error rates, to align the product list with operational goals.
  • Continuously refine the "Enabled Products" list by identifying and removing low-performing items to maximise robotic efficiency.
  • Evaluate new candidate items for range expansion, estimating operational impact and pick complexity.
  • Collaborate with Product Managers and supply chain stakeholders to prioritise items based on technical feasibility and demand.
  • Present clear, evidence-based findings to stakeholders to support strategic logistics and technical decisions.
  • Conduct offline annotation of training data to improve AI algorithms responsible for robotic movement.
  • Test and provide feedback on internal annotation and range management tools to the Engineering team.
  • Spot trends in SKU data to proactively identify and resolve range inefficiencies.
  • Ensure the digital storefront is consistently optimised for high-speed, human-like robotic picking.

What We’re Looking For: Essential

  • Proficiency in English with the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with diverse teams.
  • Strong attention to detail for maintaining high precision in data annotation and list management.
  • Analytical thinking skills to review performance metrics and identify operational trends.
  • Proven ability to collaborate across teams, specifically with Product and Engineering functions.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills to handle high volumes of data.
  • An ownership mentality with the initiative to drive solutions from end-to-end.
  • Ability to work on-site in our Sofia office for hands-on coordination with the robotics lab.

Nice to Haves

  • Proficiency with spreadsheets, dashboards, and issue-tracking tools such as Jira.
  • Basic technical aptitude and familiarity with computer software and hardware.
  • A genuine interest in Robotics, AI, and the future of automated retail.
  • Adaptability and a willingness to learn new tools and processes as technology evolves.

Benefits

  • Great remuneration package
  • 25 days paid leave
  • 24/7 Employee Assistance Program
  • Life Insurance
  • Enhanced Maternity and Paternity Leave policy
  • 150 EUR additional monthly allowance

We are an equal opportunities employer and we are committed to treating all applicants and employees fairly and equally. We are committed to making reasonable adjustments to provide a positive, barrier-free recruitment process and supportive work environment.
