Job Description:

To support ongoing experimental research programs, we are seeking a hands-on RF Analog Research Engineer passionate about experimental discovery and laboratory work.

You will design, build, and optimize resonant analog electronic circuits and RF systems dedicated to next-generation power generation research. Working closely with theoretical physicists, you will investigate novel electromagnetic effects, resonant phenomena, and energy collection mechanisms through iterative experimental prototyping.

This role requires a strong experimental mindset, combining solid electrical engineering fundamentals with practical laboratory investigation and rapid design iteration.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and test resonating analog electronic circuits operating from kHz to MHz ranges (self-oscillating systems, high-Q resonant circuits, parametric resonance setups, Joule Thief–inspired oscillators).
  • Engineer custom LCR circuits by selecting and optimizing components to achieve targeted resonant frequencies, electromagnetic behavior, and high Q-factors.
  • Design and fabricate specialized coils integrated into resonant systems, including bifilar, trifilar, caduceus, toroidal, and other non-standard windings.
  • Develop and troubleshoot RF analog electronics, including drive circuits, amplifiers, and electromagnetic field control systems used in laboratory experiments.
  • Conduct experimental investigations involving rotating magnetic fields or spinning magnets interacting with coils to study induction effects and energy collection mechanisms.
  • Perform hands-on laboratory testing and data acquisition using oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, precision multimeters, and related diagnostic equipment.
  • Analyze experimental results and iteratively improve circuit and system performance.
  • Run circuit and electromagnetic simulations (SPICE-based and EM modeling tools) to guide experimental design and validate observations.
  • Collaborate closely with theoretical physics teams to align experimental setups with emerging hypotheses and refine prototypes.
  • Document experiments, maintain research records, and contribute to technical reports and prototype development cycles.

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related field.
Minimum 7 years of hands-on experience designing and testing analog RF or electronic circuits.
  • Strong practical expertise in resonant systems, inductors/coils, and high-frequency circuit behavior.
  • Deep understanding of LCR circuit design, resonance phenomena, Q-factor optimization, and component selection.
Proven experience designing, building, and debugging custom coils and associated driving electronics.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to interpret laboratory measurement data.
  • Comfortable working autonomously in a hands-on experimental R&D laboratory environment with iterative prototyping cycles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with unconventional or high-Q resonant circuits such as Joule Thief variants, parametric oscillators, Tesla-inspired systems, or similar experimental setups.
  • Familiarity with specialized coil geometries (bifilar, trifilar, caduceus, or comparable electromagnetic configurations).
  • Background in experiments involving rotating magnets, dynamic magnetic fields, or inductive energy collection systems.
  • Experience with simulation tools such as LTspice, Multisim, COMSOL, or equivalent circuit and electromagnetic modeling software.
Knowledge of high-voltage or high-efficiency analog power systems.
  • Exposure to RF amplifiers, pulsed power systems, or advanced motor-control concepts.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

You are a curious and experimental-minded engineer who enjoys building and testing novel circuits from first principles. You combine rigorous electrical engineering knowledge with creativity and openness toward frontier research topics.

You thrive in iterative experimentation, collaborate effectively with theoretical researchers, and are motivated by exploring new physics-driven technologies with the potential to reshape future energy systems.
