Quality Engineer II Location: Marion Plant (Union Facility) Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week plus overtime as required Job Type: Direct Hire Position Overview The Quality Engineer II serves as a group leader for the Quality Support team, providing direction for routine daily activities and escalating issues to the Quality Support Manager as needed. This role plays a key part in maintaining and ensuring compliance with the Business Management Plan and applicable quality standards, including ISO 9001 and IATF 16949. This position has a strong hands-on component, requiring time on the production floor to investigate quality issues while also managing documentation, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Lead Auditor for the quality system and internal audits
  • Schedule, conduct, analyze, and report internal process and quality system audits in compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949
  • Oversee and administer the corrective action system, including evaluation and audit of corrective actions
  • Establish, maintain, and update quality assurance procedures
  • Manage and maintain the document control system and related databases
  • Lead efforts to address internal and external customer quality issues
  • Investigate and lead corrective actions related to non-conforming product
  • Ensure compliance with automotive and customer-specific requirements, including PPAP, read-across, and problem-solving activities
  • Lead the creation and management of Process Flow Diagrams and Control Plans
  • Lead and participate in FMEA activities, providing technical input from a quality systems perspective
  • Prepare and manage weekly and monthly quality performance reports, including Balanced Scorecard KPI metrics
  • Support customer visits related to quality concerns as needed
  • Interface with personnel at all levels to ensure findings are fully traced to standard requirements and properly communicated
  • Education & Certifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • ISO/TS 16949 Certified Auditor preferred
  • Prior laboratory experience desired
  • Knowledge & Experience
  • Knowledge of measuring gauges and precision measuring devices
  • Familiarity with automotive quality standards and requirements
  • Knowledge of chemical use in a laboratory environment, including general understanding of acids and bases
  • Experience maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards
  • Skills & Competencies
  • Self-motivated with strong initiative
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and internal systems (MQ1, Tandem preferred)
  • Hands-on experience using calipers, micrometers, snap gauges, tape measures, and other precision tools
  • Strong communication, organization, planning, interpersonal, and attention-to-detail skills
