As the first recruit for our India Quality control CDD team, you will play an integral part in growing the team.
Initially responsible conducting quality reviews of due diligence research and administrative duties for our new and existing clients for Lending and Banking. However, you will also be expected to have excellent understanding of UK and US AML KYC / CDD / EDD requirements, a solid understanding and ability to provide QC oversight on Onboarding, ongoing Monitoring and Fraud and AML Transaction Monitoring teams as well as a strong risk acumen and the ability to solve problems and work independently
The role does not include line management at present however we are seeking to grow the India team as our business grows. As the team grows where the candidate demonstrates the ability to problem solve, act as a leader, share best practice and AML knowledge, coach others and plan effectively, you will have the opportunity to take on line management responsibilities for the India CDD Quality control team, this includes acting as a leader for the India CDD quality team when interacting with your colleagues in the wider CDD team and the bank.
Responsibilities:
Support the UK Client Onboarding QC Team.
Independently conduct quality assurance reviews for new, existing UK & US Lending and Business Banking clients working at speed and maintaining Momentum.
Communicate & collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to ensure delivering Customer Delight.
Conduct quality control reviews of the screening of Peps, Sanctions & Adverse Media and escalate if there are true hits.
Conduct quality control reviews of the Fraud and AML transaction Monitoring alert clearing and investigation outcomes.
Processing of emails (instructions/queries).
Be a subject matter expert and maintain knowledge, and expertise - together with supporting and developing the client onboarding team.
Identify areas for improving processes to deliver improved efficiency.
Support the QC Lead in transformational change initiatives, delivering against our strategic plan
As the team grows, you will have the opportunity, subject to ability, to take on a line management role with a focus on:
Training, mentoring & line managing the India quality control CDD Team and ensuring their deliverables are met on time.
Produce and Monitor KPIs and KRI to ensure optimal performance of the India based CDD Team.
Actively carrying out onboarding cases end to end.
Providing advisory support to the other members of the India quality control CDD Team.
Supporting the UK / US team in transformational change initiatives, delivering against our strategic plan.
Technical skills:
Minimum 7 years’ experience in financial services, ideally within commercial lending or banking.
Excellent understanding and experience of AML/KYC, CDD/EDD, and broader financial crime prevention frameworks.
Strong working knowledge of UK and US AML, CTF and related regulatory guidance.
Extensive technical expertise in financial crime prevention systems and controls.
Ability to calculate ownership percentages and identify beneficial owners/PSCs, including in complex structures (SPVs, nominees, layered entities, and trusts).
Skilled in investigating and analysing information, interpreting financial statements, and presenting conclusions.
Proficiency with AML and onboarding systems.
Understanding of Anti-Facilitation of Tax Evasion (AFTE) obligations under the Criminal Finances Act 2017, including risk matrix application and red flag identification.
Proficient in AEOI (FATCA/CRS) processes — validating self-certifications, TIN formats, and reportable jurisdictions.
Knowledge of FSCS eligibility assessment, including SME classification and application of PRA/FCA guidance.
Awareness of Immigration Act 2014 Section 40A responsibilities — batch verification and disqualified account reporting.
Understanding of Consumer Duty principles, ensuring onboarding and QC processes align with fairness, transparency, and outcome-based obligations.
Familiarity with CDD for trusts, legal arrangements, and foundations, verifying all relevant parties.
Experience reviewing CDD for complex lending arrangements (co-lend, syndicated, warehouse, and secondary market transactions).
Knowledge of source of funds and source of wealth reviews, with appropriate verification for EDD/EDD+ clients.
Robust checking of quality, record management, and folder structuring in line with GDPR standards.
Nice to haves:
Experience with Fraud and AML Transaction Monitoring alert clearing.
Advanced excel knowledge and experience working with large sets of data.
Experience working with private equity / real estate investment vehicles.
ICA & ACAMS Qualifications.
Experience using CIFAS.
