ABOUT THE ROLE

Roland Foods is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented Quality Assurance Technician to support the Roland Foods Food Safety and Quality Assurance (FSQA) team. The Quality Assurance Technician will be primarily responsible for performing routine quality checks to ensure the integrity and safety of our products and documenting inspection results in Excel and the inventory management system. As this job function is conducting tests in the laboratory in our Dayton, New Jersey facility, hours and times working on site might vary slightly from the below.

As a response to the pandemic, Roland Foods office employees have transitioned to a hybrid working schedule, requiring employees to report in-person Monday through Thursday, with the option to telework on Friday each week. Due to the collaborative, cross-functional nature of the organization, employees at the NY and NJ offices are required to work in-person for the abovementioned days, outside of any People & Culture-approved disability accommodation request.

Due to the nature of the work, this role will have to report to the office 4 days a week.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Review inspection needs of incoming shipments
Conduct product inspections, including but not limited to: label and carton reviews, weight and measurement checks, organoleptic evaluation, and other testing as applicable (e.g., vacuum test, water activity, pH)
Document inspection results in Excel; communicate inspection results to cross function team via multiple online platforms
Photograph products and save to digital image library
Verify and update product data in the inventory management system to ensure accuracy and traceability
Support release of products under inspection in the inventory management system
Work collaboratively with other members of FSQA, Inventory Control, and warehouse team
Maintain laboratory equipment including digital scale calibration and general lab upkeep
Maintain and execute Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

Strong computer skills; proficient in Excel and Word, aptitude to learn to use new online platforms and software
High school diploma
Ability to lift up to 50 Lbs.
Strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, active learner

Preferred

- 2+ years’ experience in the food industry
Good oral and written communication skills including technical writing
Good math skills, interest in science and technology
Associate in food science, biology or nutrition a plus

SALARY RANGE

Roland Foods hires exceptional people to perform a wide variety of important functions that contribute to the success of the Company. One of the ways Roland Foods does that is through a competitive compensation package. The base salary for this role will be $40,000 - $47,000.

Based on your qualifications, previous experience, and transferable skills, the Company will determine at its sole discretion, the salary offered.
