The QC Specialist is a critical link between production and delivery at Twist Bioscience. You will be responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of QC methodologies within our high-throughput production laboratory. By leveraging data-driven insights and advanced molecular biology techniques, you will ensure that every DNA product meets our rigorous internal standards and exceeds customer expectations.

Onsite - 5 Days a week in Wilsonville, OR Facility

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Release: Review and release products based on established QC metrics to ensure 100% compliance with customer specifications.
  • Data Monitoring: Proactively monitor QC data trends to identify potential process drifts before they impact product quality.
  • Quality Investigations: Lead investigations into product or process deviations; perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and manage Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).
  • Reporting & Analytics: Synthesize complex data sets into actionable quality reports, summarizing trends for leadership and stakeholders.
  • Documentation & Training: Author, review, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and provide technical training to the operations team.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner closely with Operations and Engineering to streamline QC workflows and integrate new technologies.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • Experience: 2+ years of industrial experience in a Quality Control or laboratory operations environment.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with molecular biology techniques, including PCR, NGS sequencing, spectroscopy (e.g., NanoDrop/Qubit), and fragment analysis (e.g., Fragment Analyzer/TapeStation).
  • Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to make high-stakes, data-driven decisions in a fast-paced, high-throughput manufacturing setting.

Preferred Skills & Experience

  • Compliance: Strong understanding of ISO 9001, ISO 13485, or GMP standards.
  • Automation: Experience working with automated liquid handling robotic systems and Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS).
  • Problem Solving: A proven track record of troubleshooting complex technical assays and process workflows.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical data for non-technical audiences.
