As the Quality Assurance Supervisor, you will support and deputise for the Quality Assurance Manager, manage a team of direct reports, and ensure compliance with industry standards, customer codes of practice, and external accreditation requirements. You will serve as a key point of contact for quality and food safety issues during shifts, working collaboratively across departments to drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management
- Deputise for the Quality Assurance Manager as required.
- Train and mentor direct reports on procedures, ensuring all training records are maintained and up to date.
- Oversee the team’s workload and manage deadlines effectively.
Standards and Compliance
- Support QA and Operations teams to ensure compliance with factory procedures, customer policies, and accreditation standards.
- Act as a point of contact for quality and food safety concerns during shifts.
- Participate in auditing processes, including QMS, GMP, fabrication, and CCP audits.
- Assist the QA Manager with handling holds, concessions, rejections, and incidents.
- Monitor and report on technical KPIs.
- Assist in creating QAS documents, line standards, and internal specifications.
- Update documentation, procedures, and risk assessments as needed.
- Collaborate with management and supervisors to promote “Right First Time” production and continuous improvement.
Customer and Audit Engagement
- Support and participate in customer visits and technical audits, ensuring successful outcomes.
- Assist with day-to-day BRC and retailer audit management, ensuring timely and effective resolution of non-conformances.
Qualifications & Knowledge
- Food Science or a related qualification OR a minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Assurance roles.
- Experience in FMCG or similar fast-paced environments.
Skills & Experience
- Previous supervisory experience is advantageous.
- Strong passion for quality and product excellence.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships across teams and departments.
- Experience coaching, developing, and mentoring team members.
- Detail-oriented, organised, and capable of prioritising tasks effectively.
- Problem-solving mindset and continuous improvement focus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
