Arbol's Engineering team is seeking a Quantitative Python Engineer to help build the tools that support our innovative approach to climate risk and financial services. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Python development, particularly with data-focused libraries like NumPy and Pandas, and a background in financial services, trading, or risk management. You’ll work on designing and implementing new features and building tools that directly support the business. We're looking for someone who can think critically, work autonomously, and communicate effectively across all of our teams. You'll collaborate with quants, traders, and product teams to deliver impactful solutions, contribute to architecture decisions, and help drive best practices across the engineering organization. Ideal candidates will bring at least three years of professional Python experience, a solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning and innovation. What You'll Be Doing Application Development Design and implement new features for Arbol's risk management tools and trading platforms Build and maintain Python libraries and frameworks used across the organization Develop APIs and microservices that integrate with external data providers and internal systems Create tools and applications for traders, risk managers, and senior management Build, test, deploy and maintain algorithms for pricing and risk management Work with Arbol’s insurance and derivatives teams to perform business-critical analytics Writing Quality Code & Following Best Practices Write clean, testable, and well-documented code following industry standards Implement and maintain automated testing suites using modern testing frameworks Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical architecture decisions Champion best practices in software development and design patterns Collaboration & Innovation Work closely with quantitative researchers, traders, and risk management teams Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements Contribute to technical roadmap planning and technology selections What You'll Need
  • Background in financial services, trading, or risk management
  • 3+ years of professional Python development experience required
  • 1+ years of hands-on experience with NumPy, Pandas, and the Python data ecosystem
  • Strong experience building production applications and systems
  • Solid understanding of software development lifecycle and agile methodologies
  • Experience with version control systems (Git) and collaborative development workflows

  • Technical Skills
  • Expert-level Python programming with deep knowledge of language features and best practices
  • Strong familiarity with Python frameworks and open-source libraries
  • Knowledge of PEP 8 and Python coding standards
  • Experience with testing frameworks (pytest, unittest) and test-driven development (TDD)
  • Understanding of database systems and data modeling concepts
  • Knowledge of software design patterns and clean code principles

  • Computer Science degree or equivalent practical experience
  • Experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or Quantitative Developer
  • Knowledge of financial markets and instruments
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and modern development tools
  • Experience with ML/DL python frameworks like TensorFlow or PyTorch is a plus
