Job Summary

A Psychiatric Supervisor delivers exceptional patient care while providing collaborative clinical supervision across interdisciplinary team(s). This role offers a unique opportunity to shape both direct treatment and clinical leadership within a growing, values-driven mental health practice.

The Psychiatric Supervisor leads and supports a team of prescribing clinicians (PMHNPs and Psychiatrists) through mentorship, supervision, and professional development—cultivating a culture of learning and self-improvement.

Job Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities

Clinical

  • Maintain a weekly patient care schedule at ~75–80% of a full caseload, with exact numbers adjusted based on team size and supervisory duties.
  • Follow Rivia Mind’s Care Model emphasizing continuity, high-frequency follow-ups, and effective calendar management.
  • Deliver high-quality clinical care performed within the scope of a Psychiatrist and aligned with Rivia Mind’s culture, values, and guiding principles.
  • Conduct comprehensive intake evaluations and develop individualized, patient-centered treatment plans.
  • Provide psychotherapy using appropriate modalities (CBT, DBT, MI, etc.) alongside evidence-based psychopharmacology.
  • Offer effective clinical support to diverse patient populations in a telehealth setting.
  • Comply with clinical standards for documentation; maintain timely and thorough session notes.
  • Complete all administrative tasks related to patient care, including documentation, LTFU tracking, and cancellation-policy adherence.
  • Participate in required clinical meetings and trainings, including data-informed supervision environments.
  • Monitor personal dashboards to maintain productivity, documentation quality, and patient engagement.
  • Partner with the Care Team to address concerns, ensure follow-through, and uphold care standards.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to support retention, integrative care coordination, and continuity.
  • Proactively address scheduling or engagement issues based on dashboard insights and supervisory feedback.

Supervisory

  • Lead a team of PMHNPs and Psychiatrists, fostering excellent patient care and a positive, growth-oriented culture.
  • Maintain familiarity with patient-care policies; hold team accountable for adherence.
  • Provide clinical guidance on complex or high-risk cases to ensure safe, high-quality care.
  • Review patient complaints and Clinical Ops escalations regarding supervisee performance; provide appropriate feedback.
  • Utilize dashboards to monitor compliance and guide development conversations.
  • Identify coaching and mentorship opportunities to support both emerging leaders and clinicians who may be struggling.
  • Identify educational cases for larger discussion forums (e.g., MD reviews, Rivia-wide meetings).
  • Spot-check/review at least 1–2 cases per supervisee weekly.
  • Invite review of cases that meet supervision-guideline criteria.
  • Review and discuss team dashboards to determine barriers and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide constructive feedback and execute corrective actions, including disciplinary documentation when needed.
  • Provide ad-hoc support to supervisees via email or brief meetings.
  • Lead onboarding, orientation, and training for new prescribing team members.
  • Approve and monitor team PTO, sick leave, LOAs, and other time-off requests; ensure timely, policy-aligned responses.
  • Review and determine patient transfer requests.
  • Review and approve timesheets (if applicable).
  • Meet weekly with direct supervisor to escalate concerns or review high-risk cases.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings to communicate updates, address challenges, and reinforce accountability.
  • Create engaging team meetings that support case review, clinical learning, and collaborative knowledge building.
  • Audit documentation and prescriptions; provide feedback, education, and disciplinary steps as appropriate.
  • Leverage clinical dashboards and performance data to guide informed supervision aligned with caseload and documentation expectations.
  • Facilitate regular supervision focused on interpreting dashboards and applying insights to practice.
  • Monitor and hold supervisees accountable for effective calendar and caseload management.
  • Stay current on psychiatric advancements and disseminate learnings to promote clinical excellence.
  • Oversee and respond to high-risk cases (e.g., suicide risk assessments, medication complications, complex presentations).
  • Perform administrative tasks such as reviewing discharge summaries, cosigning notes, and signing PAs.
  • Be an ambassador of Rivia Minds culture by exemplifying our values and working with our mission at the forefront.
  • Model Rivia Mind's culture and values-aligned leadership with a balance of accountability and compassion to foster retention, growth, and satisfaction across the team.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

Required Education Level: Doctorate

Education Details:

  • Earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from an accredited school
  • Completed a Psychiatry residency program, completing diverse rotations including Primary Care within the training program
    • Additional residencies appreciated are: Neurology, Internal Medicine, and Obstetrics-Gynecology

Licensure/Certification Requirements

  • Active and in good standing license for at least one of these states:
    • New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Florida, or Massachusetts as a Medical Doctor
  • Active and unrestricted license to practice medicine and a DEA number for at least one of the states listed above
  • Board certified in Psychiatry

Additional Qualifications, Skills & Attributes

  • 3–5 years of cumulative experience as a Psychiatrist
  • Prior supervisory experience or demonstrated interest in supervision
  • Ability to document concurrently during patient sessions
  • Experience in outpatient settings
  • Empathetic, collaborative, and supportive of psychotherapy practices
  • Experience practicing Psychotherapy and Psychopharmacology synchronously 
  • Passion for educating, mentoring, and supervising clinicians
  • Proficiency with technology platforms (Google Suite required; EHR/EMR systems preferred)

Compensation & Employment Details

Pay Range: $250,000 to $300,000 base salary
Pay Type: Salary
Bonus Terms: Our compensation package includes a base salary based on compensable factors. Additionally, clinicians are eligible for quarterly bonuses of up to $2,000 (up to $8,000 annually), awarded based on defined metrics related to clinical excellence and care model performance.

Work Schedule
We collaborate with each provider to determine a mutually beneficial and sustainable schedule. Our focus is to develop a supportive schedule that meets both the needs of our patients and the providers' preferences. Your schedule will be determined with you before starting the role. 
  • Our operating hours are M-F: 8 am to 8 pm and Saturday: 9 am to 5 pm, but we do allow a schedule to have a start as early as 7 am, and end as late as 9 pm M-F.
    • In-office day is based on availability if hybrid work is preferred
  • Include at least four(4)+ hours within your schedule, which should be after 5 pm on a weekday or have hours on the weekend. 
  • On-call is not required, but checking and responding to emails on unscheduled days is required unless on PTO.
  • Having a consistent weekly schedule is necessary, but start and end times per day can be different each day of the week, as a set recurring schedule.
We appreciate the dedication and care our providers bring to their work and the patients they serve. Occasional flexibility may be needed to accommodate patient needs or support the growth of your caseload, such as scheduling initial consultations, managing urgent concerns, coordinating care with the broader team, and completing other responsibilities.

Actual compensation is influenced by compensable factors such as location, role responsibilities, required skills, relevant experience, qualifications, role level, and applicable credentials. In addition to base salary, total compensation may include bonuses, commissions, or other incentives depending on the role.
