The Opportunity at Altana

As a Proposal and Capture Manager, you’ll play a critical role for the Global Capture team in support of Altana’s U.S. Government business. The Proposal and Capture Manager will leverage their experience (3+ years’ experience preferred) to lead RFx and market research projects to include writing, coordination, and management across all facets of the opportunity (solutions, acquisition strategy, pricing, etc.) with support from Altana’s business development teams and leadership. This role will also help mature the organization—making consistent and reusable contributions to our knowledge/content library, leveraging acquisition intelligence tools and research to identify opportunities, and wielding LLM-based tools to drive efficient and high quality capture content. 

This role is pivotal to scaling Altana’s growth; partnering with our sales teams to source and capture deals aligned to Altana’s current and future capabilities. This role is ideal for a highly organized, strategic, and collaborative individual who thrives in an evolving and innovative environment. The Proposal and Capture Manager is able to balance RFx writing with overall project management and capture activities. 

You Will

  • Lead the full lifecycle of the RFx process, focusing on identifying, qualifying, and strategically responding to Government opportunities with support from Capture leadership and other strategic partners (sales, solutions / sales engineering, pricing, etc.).  
  • Coordinate and manage competing projects and priorities across multiple stakeholders, ensuring the on time and compliant submission of RFx opportunities to the customer. 
  • Use and update project management tools to promote team alignment, visibility, and prioritization.
  • Author RFx and other content (e.g., market research) and understand the voice and framing required for different project types. 
  • Contribute to the Capture Team’s content library, creating and refining content that is available and reusable across the organization. 
  • Leverage acquisition intelligence tools and public sources to identify and vet Altana-shaped opportunities. 
  • Support competitive analysis activities to develop winning strategies based on market intelligence and customer insights. Customize Altana’s strengths to differentiate the RFx response or other content. 

You Have

  • 3+ years’ experience in Government proposal and capture roles, ideally focused on technology solutions for the U.S. Government. 
  • Excellent writing and critical analysis abilities. You synthesize technical content into clear, persuasive narratives that align with customer priorities.  
  • Experience coordinating and communicating projects with competing priorities and diverse teams—including sales, technical, legal, finance, and product teams—to drive a unified approach to RFx responses. You can engage and gather feedback from senior stakeholders and technical teams while ensuring clarity and alignment across all RFx documents.
  • Experience with U.S. Government contracting processes, FAR/DFARS regulations, and compliance requirements. Understanding of U.S. Government proposal structures, acquisition and pricing strategies, and the solicitation process. Possess the ability to adapt this knowledge to apply to international government business opportunities as required. 
  • Insight into evolving U.S. Government acquisition and RFx trends. 
  • An eye towards growth and scaling in establishing efficient processes for all teams involved in the RFx process. 
  • Experience using a variety of tools to manage RFx response and capture activity, e.g.: Google Workspace Applications (Docs, Sheets, etc.), Salesforce CRM, Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite (specifically Acrobat), LLM-based tools (Claude, Gemini, etc.). 
  • The ability to obtain and hold a U.S. DoD Security Clearance.

This role is based in Washington, DC or New York, NY with hybrid work flexibility. Candidates must be within commuting distance from the respective Altana office. Limited travel may be required to support global capture efforts.

US Salary Range and Benefits

$115,000 - $135,000 USD

The salary range, to the extent specified for this role, is a good faith statement of the minimum and maximum levels of the annual base salary for the position.  The base salary offered to a successful candidate will depend on a wide range of compensation factors, including, but not limited to, work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full time offers; and are considered part of Altana's total compensation package. Altana also offers either a discretionary bonus or a variable compensation plan depending on the role. Additionally, Altana offers top-tier benefits for full-time employees, including:
