Property Accountant

TLDR

The Property Accountant plays a crucial role in financial reporting for multiple senior housing properties, ensuring compliance and accountability in financial management.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience

The Property Accountant reports to the Controller and responsibilities include general ledger accountability, financial reporting, stand and local compliance reporting, financial profitability analysis, and other special projects as assigned.

In this position, your main responsibilities include:

  • Prepare monthly financial statements, report and records for 5-7 Senior Housing properties and any related entities
  • Responsible for maintaining the monthly general ledger
  • Create and record all journal entries
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
  • Monthly account reconciliations and analysis of actual vs budgeted income/expenses
  • Monitor all direct and related bank accounts for necessary transfers, mortgage payments, owner distributions, etc.
  • Prepare monthly schedules, analysis and reports in Excel
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual sales/use tax returns and other similar state/local compliance reporting
  • Research and reconcile all discrepancies
  • Auditing and verifying documents
  • Follow internal procedures and controls
  • Other duties as assigned.

To be successful in this position, we believe that you need the following experiences, strengths, and skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or diploma in a relevant discipline, or a commensurate level of experience
  • MBA or CPA certification is a plus
  • At least 3-5 years of property management accounting experience (Yardi Voyager general ledger experience a plus)
  • Accounts Receivable experience a plus
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Corporate accounting experience preferred
