PEAKE is seeking a Project Manager to lead and manage network and infrastructure installation projects supporting Department of Defense (DoD) and other federal customers. This role is responsible for the end-to-end execution of infrastructure contracts, including schedule, staffing, performance, and financial oversight, while serving as a key operational interface between PEAKE leadership and field delivery teams.

The ideal candidate brings leadership experience in military or federal environments and a strong working knowledge of structured cabling and fiber infrastructure projects.


This position is based out of PEAKE’s headquarters in Millersville, MD, with regular travel to customer sites as required.


Key Responsibilities

Contract & Project Management

  • Own the operational execution of network and infrastructure installation contracts supporting DoD and federal customers
  • Manage project scope, schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time and on-budget performance
  • Track and manage contract requirements, SLAs, and performance metrics
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders and customer representatives related to project execution

Team Leadership & People Management

  • Lead and manage field teams, including onsite Team Leads and technical staff
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies, safety requirements, and compliance standards
  • Foster a high-performance, accountable, and safety-focused culture across all assigned projects

Technical Oversight of Infrastructure Installation Activities

The Project Manager is not expected to perform installation work, but must be technically fluent and capable of managing, inspecting, and validating the quality and completeness of all infrastructure activities, including:

  • Oversight of Layer 1 network installation efforts across multiple sites
  • Coordination of IT integration activities such as subfloor cabling, logistics, workstation setup, and TR/workstation integration
  • Managing fiber characterization testing, documentation, and issue resolution
  • Oversight of cable pulling, fire stopping, dressing, and labeling in accordance with industry and customer standards
  • Ensuring all work complies with applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications

Military / DoD Environment Alignment

  • Ensure execution aligns with DoD installation procedures and operational guidelines, including:
    • NIPR, SIPR, and JWICS environments (as applicable)
  • Enforce adherence to site access, security, safety, and documentation requirements
  • Coordinate with government stakeholders, base personnel, and prime contractors as required

Financial & Resource Oversight

  • Monitor labor utilization and staffing levels to align with contract budgets
  • Support forecasting, cost tracking, and variance analysis across assigned projects

Operational Excellence & Compliance

  • Ensure adherence to PEAKE operational processes, quality standards, and customer requirements
  • Maintain compliance with safety, security, and site-specific requirements across all job sites


Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in project management within network infrastructure, telecommunications, or structured cabling environments
  • Demonstrated experience managing field teams and/or multi-site operations
  • Strong working knowledge of Layer 1 network installation and cabling systems
  • Experience operating in military, DoD, or federal contracting environments strongly preferred
  • Proven ability to manage customer-facing contracts and operational delivery
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency with project management tools and reporting systems
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% to customer and project sites


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior hands-on experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, or network installation roles
  • Familiarity with DISA standards and military network environments (NIPR, SIPR, JWICS)
  • PMP or similar project management certification


Clearance

  • Active DoD Security Clearance (Secret or above) required


Physical & Work Environment Considerations

While this is a management role, the Project Manager must be able to safely navigate and inspect active job sites and verify field work, including:

  • Maneuvering throughout buildings and communications closets
  • Prolonged standing, repetitive bending, climbing, and walking job sites
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs when required for inspection or site support
