Project Manager

TLDR

Lead multiple complex civil projects from contract award through final closeout, serving as the primary point of contact for all stakeholders in a dynamic construction environment.

Central Florida's infrastructure doesn't build itself — and the contractors trusted to build it don't get that trust by accident. Our client is one of the region's premier heavy civil contractors, self-performing large-scale site development, underground utilities, earthwork, drainage, land clearing, and roadway construction across a 70-mile footprint. With 25 dedicated pipe crews in the field, a project portfolio including contracts exceeding $50 million, and a culture grounded in accountability, safety, and craftsmanship, this is a company that has earned its reputation one project at a time. They're looking for a Project Manager who is ready to own a book of complex civil work — not coordinate it, not support it — own it, from contract award through final closeout.

What You'll Own

  • Manage multiple concurrent site development and heavy civil construction projects from contract award through final completion, serving as the primary point of contact for clients, engineers, governing authorities, and internal teams
  • Coordinate with project estimators as work is awarded, conducting a thorough contract and specification review before project kickoff
  • Lead the project buyout process — preparing purchase orders for suppliers and vendors and engaging and contracting subcontractors as required
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, updating them throughout execution as field conditions and priorities evolve
  • Prepare and maintain NPDES permits, SWPPP documentation, and monthly environmental monitoring and inspection reports
  • Submit and track monthly pay applications, change orders, extra work requests, and cash flow projections with accuracy and timeliness
  • Manage all project document control including submittals, shop drawings, schedules, contract documents, and project record drawings
  • Review daily time and quantity reports from HCSS Heavy Job for accuracy, flagging discrepancies and addressing them with field supervision
  • Coordinate inspections, testing, survey staking, and utility locates in compliance with all applicable notice requirements
  • Issue correspondence to subcontractors and vendors when revised plans or specifications affect their scope
  • Provide technical engineering guidance to field superintendents and crews to ensure work complies with applicable standards, codes, and specifications
  • Manage project closeout documentation and coordinate final deliverables through completion

Requirements

  • 3+ years of project management experience with a heavy civil or site development contractor — earthwork, underground utility installation, and roadway infrastructure experience strongly preferred
  • A track record of owning projects from award through closeout with direct accountability for schedule, budget, client relationships, and quality outcomes
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or Construction Management a plus
  • Proficiency with industry-standard platforms including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, HCSS, AGTEK, Bluebeam, and Foundation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can run a client meeting, write a clear RFI response, and direct a subcontractor conversation with equal confidence
  • Highly organized with the planning discipline to manage multiple active projects simultaneously without losing detail or urgency
  • A self-directed work style — someone who identifies problems early, escalates when appropriate, and drives resolution without waiting to be asked

Benefits

  • Competitive base compensation commensurate with experience
  • Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) package plus paid company holidays
  • Medical, dental, vision, and supplemental insurance with employer contributions
  • 401(k) with employer match
  • Long-term incentives
  • Structured mentorship and a clear path for advancement — this company promotes from within and develops its own leaders
